🔒 Can I have a refund if you're going to permaban my account?

I've literally spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours playing this game along with spending hundreds of dollars in the process. I was banned once in the past for "toxicity in chat" and now I get permabanned for one doing it one more time? The enemy amumu was playing like wood division 60 and I called him out on it then he rallied everyone to report me, they did, and I got permabanned.

If you're going to ban my account, at least credit all of the money spent back to my account. It'd be one thing if I didn't pay money but If I spent so much time and money playing this game only to have it taken away? What the hell is that?

So, by riots logic I get to be permabanned and lose several hundred dollars and 100 days in game play time grinding to unlock everything for being toxic in 2 games? out of thousands? Is this how you encourage spending? By getting people to support your game, spend countless time and money on it only for saying a few mean words in chat? Is league of legends a new tumblr safe space?

I don't have much money at all, and often times when I get money I use it to buy new champs and skins etc..

I mean it is my bad for being toxic, but I genuinely don't think I deserve to lose a large sum of money and time for trash talking. Give me my money and we're all good rito.

If you don't have much money, you probably shouldn't spend it all on an account for a game that you refuse to follow its Terms of Use. Riot will not issue refunds for permabanned accounts. It's kind of a large part of the incentive for you to stick to the rules.

The whole tumblr safe space movement is getting out of hand. Everyone is too easily triggered. It's a competitive game. Of course there's going to be trash talking. That's the nature of competitiveness.

All riot is is a billion dollar company that caters to the professional meta and doesn't care about the actual state of the game. Only which skins their going to sell and how they buff champions to suit competitive play. And now they're trying to create an internet safe space where nothing can be said.

If words are able to get you banned, then most of the playerbase should be permanently banned. They quoted the number of .0006% of people are toxic enough to get permabanned when I see 1 or more players every single game say worse things than what I said. If riot actually enforced their own rules i'd say around 10% of players are toxic enough to be banned. Not .0006

Negativity bias, my friend. People often remember a negative experience more easily than a positive or neutral one. If 9 players in your match said nothing and 1 is really toxic, that match most likely stands out as toxic to you. You end up feeling like a huge number of players are toxic when it's really only a few.

Also, seeing as how you are one of those toxic players, you'll obviously see toxicity everywhere; you are often the one causing or perpetuating it! Just mute and report people and move on.

Either way all I'm saying is that more than .006% of players are toxic. If you play the game then you know this to be fact. You know someone is going to be toxic in atleast 2 out of 10 games minimum. If you deny this then I'm unsure of what game you've been playing. I see players be more toxic than I ever was on a daily basis. I'm not even toxic tbh, just had a single game where I may have crossed the line and amumu convinced everyone to report me because he was mad losing to me after trashtalking.

Getting permabanned isn't about being toxic. It's about being toxic over, and over, and over again, and no temporary punishment or threat of a permaban is stopping the behavior. Only the most severe offenses result in a permaban with little or no chance to reform.

If player A and B are doing the same thing and only A is punished for it, it's usually because player A has a much longer history of that behavior.

This is not the result of multiple reports in a single match, or your behavior in a single match (unless your offense was so severe as to warrant this). Multiple reports do not "stack" against you; punishment is calculated per match not per report. As mentioned above, the permaban was not due to one game either way, because there is a 4-step punishment system you go through (again, unless the offense was severe).

Can you give me information on prior punishments (if any), and your reform card for this one?

You keep using the words defindong yourself, but then you say that the things you said was definitely ban worthy. I just don't get why people assume defending yourself means to call another person a racial/derogatory slur. If that is what you did. I can only assume though, but it just doesn't make any sense to me.

I have been permabanned today for doing literally nothing. Ill even post up my chat log for you, i didnt use a single derogitory term or racial slur. I insulted MY OWN play several times after making bad plays, and then the support comes top lane intentionally feeding 3 times in a row, when i tell him he is a retarded fuck for it. At the end of the game his duo partner and him convince the other team to report me, and now im sitting her permanently banned. I have only had 2 other bans ever, one was a chat ban in my very first season playing league, the other was a 2 week ban at the beginning of december. I dont go into games flaming or trying to be tox and i often mute players to control myself. In this one situation of getting mad i am now permabanned out of 550$. How do you explain or justify this?

9 bad words, i went and counted. Tell me how anything here justifys a perma ban. Tyler1 has done well worse than this and is still not permabanned. Players in every game in in do worse and they are still unbanned.

Calling for reports, threatening to afk, harassing other players, passive-aggressive behavior: these are the things that got you punished. Why a permaban? Because you already received a 2-week ban and still didn't change your poor behavior. Because of that the system assigned you the next available punishment, which in this case was a permaban. Someone else acting up will never give your own poor behavior a free pass. From Understanding the Tribunal:

4) That player in my game was far worse than me. Why am I banned??? a) I'll keep this one simple: retaliation isn't OK. Reacting to a toxic player by being toxic just incites that player to be even worse--it also ruins the game for up to 8 other players. It is far, far worse to watch two people yelling at each other all game than it is to watch 1 player ranting into blank space. Almost everyone in the game can find someone out there that behaves worse than they do--but so what? Finding someone worse doesn't justify your behavior or justify retaliation. We expect more out of our players. What players often don't realize is... those other players in your game that you thought were worse? Nearly 100% of the time, those players were banned even before you were. If someone is being toxic, just report them and move on. If you retaliate, both of you will be banned. It's really that simple.

Also, Tyler1 did get permabanned at least 20 times for a multitude of reasons, not least of which was verbal harassment.

Because of a well-documented history of account bans for verbal abuse, intentional feeding, as well as account sharing/purchasing, evasion of sportsmanship systems, and player harassment, we will not allow Tyler1 to hold a League of Legends account, indefinitely. Any account definitively used by him will be banned immediately upon identification.

The things that set people off aren't necessarily all punishable, but avoiding them can make your experience a lot better.

I treat everyone with respect. I avoid jumping on people's mistakes. I don't engage toxic players. I carefully choose my words so they are clear, concise, and purposeful. Probably most importantly, I don't view everyone in my games as toxic by default. Treat people with decency and respect, even if they don't deserve it.

There are undoubtedly a lot of toxic players. It is not 75% or anywhere near it. 7-8 toxic players in every single game? Just blatantly false. Even in games where there are toxic people, it is usually still only a couple.

I'm sure I'll get downvoted for this but I actually kinda disagree with you on this one. I think it is rather bullshit that in a rated T for TEEN game that certain things are bannable. I can understand using racial or homophobic slurs can be an issue, but calling someone out for something they are doing and getting banned for it is a little farfetched. Also, most other game communities are toxic, but they at least understand that people have emotions and can be triggered. Your arguement is like saying You go to school with kids and when they are making fun of you or are mistreating things that are yours calling them out for it or fighting back to defend yourself with more demoralizing words gets YOU in trouble instead. People are taught to stand up for themselves. If you can't handle being called bad or being told to fix something about your play and then not listening to it and getting butthurt then you should not be playing MULTIPLAYER games with REAL people.

Everyone that gets permabanned isn't just "Man i cant believe we lost what the fuck team cmon". They are deliberately attacking other people repeatedly or to extreme measures.

don't have them. The worst thing I said in chat was "amumu is retarded" after he flashed in and blew his ult for no reason and got his team aced. I threw in a ggez for good measure bc it felt good to win after getting flamed by amumu for my build. I said ap mumu is trash and he's the reason they lost because he didn't build tanky.

I understand that I was toxic, and looking back I wouldn't do it again but I just am failing to understand the concept of being permanently banned for using words in a video game.

I didn't tell anyone to kill themselves, or anything like that. Only criticized his gameplay decisions bc he criticized mine.

Calling someone a R%%%%D and "GG EZ" are things that are flagged when your match is reviewed... You just explained why you have been banned.

Also, this obviously isn't your first offense, since you were permanently banned...

The severity of the punishment is not based on severity of offense. It is a 4 strike system, where severity of the punishment is based on how many strikes you have accrued:

1st strike - 10 game chat ban 2nd strike - 25 game chat ban 3rd strike - 14 day full ban 4th strike - perma

There is an exception for hate speech, racial slurs, or extreme cases of toxicity, that will result in skipping and going straight to 3rd or 4th strike.

If your reported them, they will be reviewed, judged, and given an appropriate punishment.
How do you know they were not punished?

riot lies like crazy about how their punishment system works. nobody reads the chat logs. it's all automated. they came up with an algo for it. don't send a lot of messages and don't use profanity, even ones that don't get censored then you won't get banned. it doesn't matter who reports you. obviously, don't do things like afk or intentional feed. riot wants a clean environment so little kids can play and spend money on it. they don't give a flying fuck about anything else.

You didn't pay for something they can take from you. You rented something for an account that is ultimately owned by Riot. When they ban you they are forbidding you to access something that has always been their property.

The accounts are your own, and the items you unlock become yours when owned by the account. Nothing is rented you do that from the hextech screen when renting a champion from shard. They are stealing money by locking accounts out that other people have rightly paid for.

Riot is a bitch company that promotes even more bitches. There shouldn't even be a report system in the first place, but because they want to advertise this game to younger kids, they have to keep the community safe from "online bullies." At the end of the day, Riot is a company to make money. They don't care whether or not you are having fun, or if you did spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars. They only care about the money because "revenue is king." What's the best way to make revenue? By appealing to the younger kids that play this game and create lifelong supporters, and in turn make a shit ton of money. My suggestion is to just stop playing League of Legends. It's a fun game for sure, but the intention behind Riot's Report System is too obvious. Honestly, how the fuck are you going to play a competitive game without trash talking? It's part of the fucking game. League of Legends is supposedly an "Esport," but can a sport really be a sport without trash talking? I don't think so. League of Legends is a game for pussies to come together, and hold hands while they play. As a competitive gamer and athlete, I say fuck that shit. I'm here to destroy you and call you trash if you are. Fuck all of you pussies, and Fuck you Riot. Good luck maintaining a player base when you permaban 75% of the players that play.

If there was no report system then we'd have a ton of ragers and flamers running around, and quite frankly that's not fun for anyone. It's not that they want to advertise the game to younger kids. it's that they want people to interact with each other in a mature and respectful manner. If they can't do that then they shouldn't be playing multiplayer online games.

Yes Riot wants to make money, but if they didn't care then they wouldn't:

Bring back Legacy skins or Winter Summoner's Rift upon fan request. Implement a behavioral system to promote neutral/positive behavior and discourage negative behavior. Allow for up to 3 refunds per account. Hold contests for Riot Points and additional loot. Give good behaving people mystery skins/icons. Allow good behaving players access to Hextech Crafting to get Champions and Skins easier.

I could go on but basically just because Riot doesn't cater to you and other disgruntled players doesn't mean that they don't care about the community.

If Riot truly wanted to make more money then they wouldn't ban people in the first place. As it stands toxic players just drive business away, so it's actually in Riot's benefit to remove the players who don't want to reform. If the toxic players make new accounts, that's their choice, but they'll quickly find that behaving in the same way that got their older accounts permabanned will result in the same thing happening again. Think of it this way: the more time one spends raging and flaming at someone the less time that they're spending actually playing the game itself. Kei143 made a post that talks a little about it and it goes as followed:

When Riot permabans someone, their philosophy is "the chances of this guy reforming isn't a whole lot, we'd rather not have him in the game". Thus in their eyes, they have already written off the toxic player as a paying client.

From a business standpoint, do they want to remove the toxic guy who has spent $500 but is causing a negative environment for 4-9 other players in every game? Those non-toxics are also spending $500 and probably will spend more, promote the game more when they are enjoying the game AND they won't cause a negative environment.

I personally think it is a fine argument to protect the ones that are paying money and aren't toxic rather than protecting the ones that may pay the same amount but are toxic.

There's trash talking and then there's just being a jerk. This is true in all sports whether they're offline or online. If someone takes it too far then they get fined and/or punished. From Ulanopo's Knowledge Base:

Yes and no. Yes, trash talk occurs, but it has definite limits. Most of the things that are punished in game (racial, ethnic and homophobic slurs, sexism, etc.) would also earn you a hefty fine in professional sports.

Also, only a very small percentage of players get banned. Most of the people complaining about their bans and the behavioral systems in general are just the vocal minority. You don't have to be a saint, you just have to not be a jerk to other people. If you're unwilling or unable to interact with others in a neutral or positive manner then multiplayer online games are just not for you.

The accounts are your own, and the items you unlock become yours when owned by the account. Nothing is rented you do that from the hextech screen when renting a champion from shard. They are stealing money by locking accounts out that other people have rightly paid for.

The account is created by you but at Riot's discretion and it's contents are the property of Riot Games for your use. They may, at any time and for any reason (or no reason), revoke access to the account. The servers that you access belong to Riot and they ALLOW you to use them.

The money that you voluntarily pay to Riot for access to their digital content is non-refundable provided that you were given the access to the content in exchange for the money. However, and this should again be noted, Riot can revoke that access.

You agreed to these terms. You "own" nothing; you are ostensibly being granted a license to access the content but this privilege may be revoked at any point.

Class action suits would yield no money for you even if you prevailed. The litigators (lawyers) get all the money in a class-action suit. Naturally, the point here is moot because you wouldn't win a class-action suit as you have no case. You do not own the content, you are ALLOWED access to the digital content in exchange for money, but in the Terms of Service you agreed to Riot has the discretion to revoke your access to that cotent at any time and for any reason or no reason at all.
If you were to seek legal action, you would likely be filing a small-claims case, in which no lawyers are involved, it is you (the plaintiff) against the defendant (Riot games or a representative thereof) arguing before a judge. Let me tell you how that would go down; you would lose. You agreed to the Terms of Service and therefore cannot claim any damages.. without damages you have no case. The end. There isn't a signle judge that would ever agree with you.
