The real reason toxicity exists in this game

First off, a little bit about me. I have played since s2, my first champion was blitzcrank and I loved playing support. Because I was not very good the people who taught me sorta made me play support, but I learned to love it because I would always land great hooks and get people super fed. I practically mained blitz at the time. It wasn't until I started playing without friends did I realize just how frustrating the game was, and people's behavior because of it.

But that's all besides the point. I'm sure everyone has had a game like this:

All lanes are feeding Your team is flaming eachother It's not even 20 minutes so FF is not an option THEN you finally hit 20 minutes

Surrender vote doesn't pass.

Understand I am not in favor of just quitting whenever the game get's hard. I've won plenty of hour and a half long games, come back from huge gold disadvantages like everyone has. But honestly, when it comes down to it, I don't want to keep playing a game filled with people flaming eachother whether I am winning OR losing, but especially if I am losing.

So there it is

The way league of legends functions is what creates toxicity, not the players

Personally when something makes me angry, I separate myself from the situation. You CANNOT do that in this game, it is both rude to quit as you have invested in the time of 9 other people AND you get punished for it.

" So just take a break between games "

Okay fair enough. But the amount of times I have done that and come back to NOTHING DIFFERENT is not something that can be counted. I know for a fact this is not just something I experience. That is statistically and logically impossible. So once again, you repeat yourself in having to sit there in a game you are losing with people who have lost all emotional logic and YOU CAN'T LEAVE.

I'm not gonna pretend like getting pissed at your team is not part of competitive gaming. I mean, the first game I ever took seriously was good old 2v2 halo 1, but at the very least games won't usually last more than 20 minutes, or rarely that long.

But no amount of:

Hextech chest rewards Making it easier to play with friends Punishing toxic people in a toxic game Penalty for AFK and disconnect Will ever change the fact that this game creates it's own toxicity, Dyna Q bandaid solutions and hextech chests won't change that.

The reason toxicity exists is because people sometimes do bad at the game or because arguments on ETC pop up, that's what there is to it. You cannot win in silver by playing only support. In silver you must learn how to carry yourself. Imma give you a start off champions: Illaoi, Vladimir, Fizz, Ezreal, Irelia, Darius, Volibear. Learn how to play 1 of these champions and you could get out of Silver in a small matter of time. Obviously there are many other factors that also depend on how much you can carry, and how good you can handle it. Such as: Greediness, Farming ability, Snowball ability and sustaining the lead, Counter build for enemy champions and good decision making, Good masteries depending on the enemy team/ enemy laner, Outplay and Out-smarting the enemy potential, ETC....

The only constant factor in all of your games is you.

you know there are a few reasons why the games are toxic. I believe, in my own opinion, is that people (or people in general) don't like to admit or own up to their mistakes and bad plays, when they make a bad play, according to the popular opinion of the community, is to ignore those cause everyone can have a bad game and the all-time favorite line of "your toxicity won't help him, it will just tilt him more." I have rarely see a post urging people to say sorry for things they have done wrong or things they didn't do but could have (such as using exhaust, heal, cc).

it's very hard to imagine a team where everyone is polite and apologetic and everyone still flaming each other. Granted, there will be people, no matter how apologetic you are, they will still hate on you, but i believe that the general population isn't. However the community has taken the stance as to keep silent and let things go is a better/mature way to solve things than people actually realizing and admit their mistakes. That's the real reason. The game can be as short as 20 minutes, even for a bad game.

Hey guys, sorry a bad game. Nah, i didn't do so well either. don't blame yourself for it. I should have ganked more. I was outplayed by their top, sorry team. Shall we move on and try to fight them. come to a team conclusion

nope, that's not how lol works. this is what usually goes down.

wtf why didn't you save me? useless jg. you can't even smite? jg i needs ganks mid or i will feed. top stop farming and join team fight.

then someone, without talking about it, started a FF vote 2 yes 3 no.

why didn't you guys surrender. this game is so done....

10 more death

another silent ff vote 3 yes 1 no

15 more death

another silent ff vote 4 yes 1 no

game ended at 54 minutes

post game These noobs won't surrender, says the mid laner who is 0/12/3 adc: if you didn't feed that much maybe we wouldn't have to surrender. sup: report my team, toxic af jg reports all and left without a word top jg never ganks and mid doesn't follow his lane

XD

wait, did I just read you just jump 5 million steps without explaination on how that toxicity started?

in your example, people were already flaming each at pre-20. its not any different post-20.
