Is it trolling to explicitly refuse to ping "missing" when the enemy laner goes missing ?

Hey,

So I was in a game where I got a few early deaths because another laner didn't ping "missing". So I just asked them politely to please ping "missing" if they notice the opposing laner is missing, as I assumed they were being inattentive or new. The reply was along the line of "stfu, just use the minimap".

So, does it count as trolling and should be reported as such, since the player is deliberately refusing to do part of his "job" as a laner ? Once again, I am not talking about someone who tries but fails to do so. I am talking about someone who knows he should but refuses to do it.

So, what's your take on it ?

Come on dude, seriously? This is a team game, and this kind of thing is a 2-way street. Yes, it's very cool of people to ping when they notice someone is missing. It's also our own responsibility to pay attention to what's going on in the game, ensure we have vision to protect us, and to not overextend our lanes if we haven't taken proper precautions.

Some people go into each game and immediately mute everyone's pings, chat, emotes, the whole thing. They choose to not communicate, and that's their right. So no, it's not punishable.

Pings are nice, but wards are nicer and so is mini-map. This is a team game and as such, it is in the laner's interest to help other laners by pinging his missing opposing laner so he won't get kill from other lanes and fuck said laner when he comes back. That part no one will want to contest. However, the fact that you think it is anyone's "job" to use missing pings and people purposely not using it is going down a very wrong path that you will be very disappointed later on as you play more games. The best thing to do is rely on yourself and practice glancing at mini-map every so often and buy pink wards.

To answer your other question, no it does not count as trolling. Even if someone admitted they deliberately didn't ping would not count as trolling. Pings are not part of the rules and not using pings is also not part of the rules. Wards save lives, get you a pink one today.

No because I, someone how has been in Plat or higher for 3 seasons, forget to ping missing because I still have times I don't think about it. People just mess up sometimes, there could be a person trolling by not pinging missing but there is no way to tell unless the rest of their game is trolling/they decide to tell you...

No.

Alright, I see, thanks for the answers.

I was often flamed by teammates for not pinging "missing" myself at first, and I thought this was a hard rule, so I was paying extra attention to it. Now I'll just do it if I think about it, and if I don't and someone is flaming for it I'll just mute them, and I won't say anything if someone else doesn't ping "missing".

yeah i think it's trolling most decent people do it, not doing it is just giving enemy advantage no matter how hard you try to twist as ally incompetence since you can't tell when someone has gone missing and started roaming randomly at every given time except for the laner who would first notice that his enemy is suspiciously gone

it's a game with two losers you the one who didn't ping and the one who got surprise ganked so i ask people who don't do it what do you gain of this shit? nothing, just a fed enemy player and a blame game that's what you gain

No its not. You have a minimap. If you want to be a good player, learn to glance at it every 3-5 seconds. It is courteous and nice to ping missing though, and it helps in my scrub silver ELO.
