Out of curiosity, can a player receive penalties for using emotes in any way?

Say you kill an enemy, and use a taunting emote, or dodge a skillshot? Or maybe a player ints then emotes to show they did it on purpose? I know the chat logs are seen as the main way of communication and tracked, but I haven't heard much about emotes in communication.

No. Especially since you have to litteraly pay for 99% of emotes, riot will never punish you for it.

Emotes are mostly used in a toxic manner, so I'm kind of confused why riot would create/advertise emotes when they dislike toxicity in their game.

I've seen smites for using pings as a form of abuse and harassment, I have yet to see a case for players getting punished due to emotes.

I haven't heard of it happening, but I would imagine it would need excessive abuse and a manual review for anything to happen.
