ARAM is not a place for justifying toxic attitudes
I know that the randomness of the game can leave you out of good options from time to time. But generally, there are enough players that play ARAM that don't own all the champs, that with the new salvage champ system they added, you have access to something reasonable you can work with nowadays.
So, using ARAM as an excuse to just mess around and not take teamwork seriously is not cool. You don't know that others share your opinion that the game is lost from the draft, so why are you trying so hard to prevent everyone from winning? Or is that you just don't want to think about strategy? Whatever the case, if you get flamed for playing badly, and you were playing badly, more or less on purpose, why do you think it's okay to defend yourself?
The average person will not do so. Most players will just silently admit they were wrong and say nothing. But there are some people, like the kind of people that make some of the threads on these boards or join in the comments about them that will do otherwise. They will be keyboard warriors and insist that being a jerk that doesn't care about teamwork is fine and dandy and that people that don't like jerks are pure evil and need communication bans or banned from the forums or some such.
To quote myself from one of these threads:
You have plenty of time to discuss strategy in ARAM, everyone or at least most of the team should be dying around the same time on a regular basis. So many times I see someone tell me in post game lobby that this isn't ranked or some BS like that well guess what, I was being fair and nice the whole game, and probably got honored by at least 1 person that game too. Your opinion doesn't really matter if you use it as an excuse to not communicate with other players and to justify your grumpiness.
I deleted that comment because shortly after it, predictably enough, because it was running counter to the thread's main point...it was down-voted and I knew it was just going to get more down-votes. So here I am, making a rival thread.
I want to point out, that discussing strategy is viewed as flaming, whether correct or incorrect is irrelevant. The point is that players don't want to chat with their teammates and they try to get out of doing so and justify their bad attitudes by telling you that there's nothing tangible on the line. But what they don't realize is that their honor is at stake.
