A Solution to AFKs in ranked.

So we’ve all been there. Your teammate dies and rage quits, or his toaster drops connection, and you take the loss in LP or even promos. I’ve seen countless complaints and no action. Here is my suggestion for mitigation of the issue.

If a player is afk for a certain amount of time during a game such as 50% for instance, they take an extra LP loss say 10 LP. Then their team takes a smaller loss in LP say 5 less for instance. This way there is an incentive to rejoin a game when you drop. Plus if he doesn’t join then his team gets punished less for something they can’t change. Currently most players just assume they will lose after dropping so why come back? They lose the same amount of LP either way. This will encourage them to rejoin the fight and hopefully contribute to a comeback instead of making a sandwich. Thoughts?

The problem with that is that you encourage bullying. Let's say your mid lane is doing god awful finishing at 0-8 by the 15 minute mark while all the other lanes are doing fine with very few kills. You now have a fed Katarina roaming around the map killing everyone left and right and carrying the game for her team.

Everyone is going to start flaming your mid lane saying he needs to leave. After all it was his fault for feeding the Kat so why can't they verbally abuse him until he leaves so that they can save their precious LP?

no way. The system already gives you an automatic defeat if you have disconected for a while.

Why would anyone come back, if they know that they will get an auto loss no matter what they do.
