Wide variety of reasons.

Hate the champ and always ban. Doesn't want to risk the enemy getting it first. To simply be a dick.

  • The champ is staight up bad
  • they ave seen your winrate on that champion
  • it is a priority pick and your opponent is likely to get it before you
  • you want to first pick Vayne

  1. In cases of a new champion coming out, like Pyke right now. Some people might not want to see you play that champion in a ranked game, because you are probably gonna feed, and that's a wise ban.

  2. If there's a popular strong champion but you are last pick hovering it, and not even ask for someone to first pick it for you, then it's wise to ban it, otherwise the enemy will probably get it.

  3. Your win rate on that champion is horrible. If someone sees your op.gg and sees that your intended pick is on a 30% win rate, then it's wise to ban it, because then it means that the chances of winning that game are very low, because of that win rate. Again, very wise

  4. Being a dick. No explanation here.

The only reason I will ever do it is if it is a priority pick that can take over a game, and my teammate is a late pick. If the ban phase was longer, I would be willing to try to see if someone could pick it earlier and then swap, but with how short the ban phase is I don't want to risk it.
