Is using good words instead of toxic words still toxic or no?

I've always wondered if doing this:

Kill Youself -> Kiss Yourself Fuck you / Fuck Yourself -> Funk You / Funk Yourself (Maybe more to come)

  • Is [galio-happy] Because you're externalizing anger while still saying good words and basically appearing like a good guy to make sure no one gets hurt by your sentences.

OR

  • Is [sg-shisa] Because the other players might understand what you're writing and still take it as what you intended to say in the first Place, resulting in you still being toxic on top of being undetectable by Riot's Toxic Scan Bot.

The system is actually pretty good at picking up context, so I'd recommend avoiding this behavior.

Flaming is toxic whatever words are used, and certain words make it worse. People are going to know what's meant when someone says "funk you" or "go frick yourself" or "eat spit and dry in a fire" or whatever, so just don't.

If it was completely changed and someone called somebody "beautiful person" as a special personal code for "useless feeder" and things like that and it wasn't being spammed in chat and there wasn't any ping spamming, that would be different. Even then, if someone called one particular teammate something positive whenever the teammate died, there's still a decent chance the teammate that's dying will get annoyed by it and mute the person. I don't know if it would be punishable, though, so long as the person wasn't also saying toxic things and/or trolling and throwing games.

With the exception of overt hate speech, threats of violence, or telling somebody to kill themselves, it doesn't really matter what words you use. It matters how you treat your fellow players. You can get banned with the vocabulary restrictions of doggo memes that censor "h*ck" if you're enough of a dick about it.

So to directly answer your question, yes, it's still being toxic. Nobody is under any illusions as to what you mean if you go around telling people to go kiss themselves.
