How to fix flaming and the learning curve in one go:

Implement a tutor system.

A new player joins the game, they apply for a tutor with voice chat to teach them the game. The tutor gets rewards such as RP/Skins according to the rating their student gives them when they hit lv30 and/or based on how long they taught them.

Bad tutors/salty players are poorly rated, therefore removed from the tutor system and receive reduced or no rewards. Good tutors teach the attitude for the community to take in to games as well as provide new players a sense of belonging in the community, and potentially build play groups for people who would otherwise not engage directly with the community.

Sounds interesting. Although we know people will troll and make accounts to intentionally give poor ratings.

Flaming has nothing to do with new players or bad players. Players are matched according to their skill level, and at an aggregate they're all about as good as each other. League of Legends by its nature is always going to have some players in each game that do well, and some that do poorly. We see this in the very newest players, we see it in the depths of Bronze, and we see it even in professional play.

Flaming is the result of some players' inability to control their emotional responses to losing or to not getting their way.

i'd prefer to stay away from VC but i'd love the ability to ride shotgun with someone and help tutor them.
