Permabans aren't the answer

Hello,Everyone my name is Deceivery i have recently been permanently banned on the Na server. I was under a lot of stress this year with things such as my great grandfather passing away earlier this year along with losing my job and some other just standard life stress but enough about that.Just a little background i have been playing since late season 4 and have spent thousands of hours playing league like many of you in the community. I have also spent hundreds of dollars on my account which i think i should be able to earn the right to use once again by being unbanned.

I wrote this post in hopes of riot not only unbanning me but also reviewing how they handle permabans going forward, now i will share how i believe the bans should be addressed.

If someone is toxic in chat such as i was in the past and riot really feel it necessary to remove the negativity that such actions bring they should just hand out permanent chat restrictions which can be reviewed if the person were to apply for the review but such a system would mean changing the way the current system works.if the person proves reformed enough they go back to having an account with no restrictions on it same goes for the other thing i am going to mention in the below paragraph.

If someone is physically toxic so griefs by running it down mid, scripting, or runs around stealing jungle camps all game they should receive their own queue with other people just like them along with being disallowed to play ranked as a whole but i still believe people change i know have since getting banned that they should also be able to apply for an account review to see if they have "reformed" enough to rejoin the main community but that would also require change within the current ban system.

So those were just my ideas about how it should be handled.I don’t believe perma banning an account and it being gone forever is healthy for the community because most of the people that get permabanned just make a new account and repeat the cycle but some people do change and those people should be able to earn back the hundred if not thousands of dollars/hours they have spent making the account the way they want.

I have personally learned my lesson and i have been trying to convey that to riot but all they do is keep giving me are answers such as “Sadly once an account is justly permanently banned, its lost for good - there is no way to do so”- Riot Skiwi but i don’t believe that there is nothing they can do. I am not calling riot liars just for clarification i am just saying that the system is flawed because there is currently no way for formerly toxic players to show reform within the current system in order to regain the right to play on the account that their past actions got banned.

Sincerely yours ~ Deceivery

I'm 99% sure permanent chat restrictions have been attempted in the past by Riot, and it's just led to people intentionally feeding games or trolling other aspects of the game.

if the person proves reformed enough they go back to having an account with no restrictions on it...

That is how the current system works. If you're negative, you go from a 10 game chat restriction to a 25 game chat restriction, then a 14-day gameplay ban, and finally a permanent ban. Reform, act generally positive and over time your account will return to good standing.

If someone is physically toxic so griefs by running it down mid, scripting, or runs around stealing jungle camps all game they should receive their own queue with other people just like them...

That's not going to change anything for the better. Sure it would get rid of toxic people from average games, but it's shoving people into a cesspool of players that won't make it easy to reform.

Imagine you just messed up and you're ready to reform to get your account back. Too bad, because you're in a game full of people running around doing and saying whatever they want with no chance of being pulled out or keeping your cool. A negative environment can easily breed negativity.

but some people do change and those people should be able to earn back the hundred if not thousands of dollars/hours they have spent making the account the way they want.

The point of a permanent ban is to be the final straw. You messed up on 4 separate occasions, they need to take something meaningful away from you. It's their game and they can do what they want.

i am just saying that the system is flawed because there is currently no way for formerly toxic players to show reform within the current system...

I've been perma banned before. You're 100% able to reform. This is my new account, all new champions, all new skins, all new mindsets. No toxicity, if I don't feel like being positive or I'm struggling to remain positive, don't say anything. It's that simple.

They (essentially) tried this. The essentially permanently muted players resorted to other forms of negative behavior, or used the few messages they did have in game to be toxic.

If someone is physically toxic so griefs by running it down mid, scripting, or runs around stealing jungle camps all game they should receive their own queue with other people just like them

Throwing toxic players with other toxic players is the absolute worst way to try to promote reform.

I have personally learned my lesson

Unfortunately, too little too late. You had 3 warnings with smaller punishments prior to getting permanently banned. You should have cleaned up your act after getting a 14 day suspension as you knew it was the last warning.

i am just saying that the system is flawed because there is currently no way for formerly toxic players to show reform

There is. That's why riot doesn't generally go straight to a permanent ban, to give you a chance to reform. Riot conducted an experiment in the past where they picked people who sounded like they were reformed and gave them another chance. There was basically a 0% success rate, and nearly every player failed. They're conducting a similar experiment again, but they've yet to give any information as to how it's going. Unbanning players that have been permanently banned isn't something that's a high priority to them for obvious reasons, and the current system actually works pretty well.

Where are your sources that most permanently banned players just make a new account?

Riot themselves have stated that most permanently banned players leave the game - and for those that do come back most behave appropriately.

The purpose of the permaban is to tell the player they aren't welcome in LoL anymore.

Not to give them chances to reform and come back.

Simple make another acc and ruin ranked games , WITHOUT FLAME

riot only cares about flamers, so u ruin games and not flame and u see RIOT get fcked.

Thats what RIOT LAME SYSTEM diserve for ban flamers and not trollers , flamers simple get muted ,NOT AN TROLLER

In my case i simple ruin ranked games not saying an single word, i make my team flame and then i report flamers simple, besides the game lost.

RIOT BAN SYSTEM is simple lame, banned people simple make another acc and ruin games but not flame, they simple pissed and its worse .

If u find any of my acc at ranked mode i make sure the game is lost.

I think it kind of is, Most of my games are peaceful nowadays.

Sometimes when someone tilts a bit much all I have to say is "Have you been banned before" and almost immediately there will be peace. LOL

While things you listed definitely can affect mental state, it's still not an excuse to act negatively and behave badly in-game. You probably had a 14-day ban prior to this ban, which at that point should've made it clear to you that a 14-day ban is the last warning. Even mild toxicity will trigger a permaban after that.

You had your second and third chances most likely if you received a chat restriction and the 14-day ban. Unbans for permabanned players don't happen unless it was a false ban which is very rare. Doesn't matter how much you have spent money/time everyone is treated the same.
