How do you stay tilt proof?

Hey guys, I'm really wondering what people do to stay tilt proof. I always seem to find myself doing well, playing nice with others, and even defusing situations. I'd like to think I can be helpful. But there are games when I lose my cool. It's always the games where there's someone just having a bad day or whatever and they go flaming everyone next thing you know the game is a shit storm because everyone is tilted then reporting each other post game. It's like a storm that just builds up and suddenly your caught in it somehow, you don't know why you told yourself to respond, but you did.. I've heard that "muting people" is the way to go.. but the irony is that through all the hurricane of slander you sometimes catch wind of helpful hints. Like : "Stupid ass Jungle uninstall and kys if you don't know you need bloodrazor" Ahhh. I need Bloodrazor. I mean, it's a dumb example.. but muting everyone literally silences the help too. Have you ever gone through a game with everyone muted and pings muted then come post game to "report for not helping". That's fun. I don't know if I got into some kind of "poor sportsman" division, but if that's what the Honor System is then it's a more terrible climb than ranked divisions. Sigh.. I digress.. What do you guys do to stay tilt-proof?

Me, as a very positive player, what I do is that i always apologize and forgive other teammates. I always apologize whenever I die or my teammate die ( that is if I think the situation could have been a lot better). Other than that, I would always praise them if they got a kill or get first tower for the team (its a habit). This actions would always result in positive vibes throughout the whole game, other teammate even started to apologize back and praising each other, there's this one time where we don't have a jg and 2 players have to share the top lane. Initially they were being very toxic towards each other, but then they turn out to be a great team in the top lane, even got first turret for us. So I praise them both for the achievement and to my surprise, they both apologize to each other in-game!! Can you see how strong the positive power can be?? If you think that being negative is a strong emotion and can ruin a game, then let me tell you that the power of positivity is no difference!! And believe me when I tell that if you stay positive for a lot of games, you WILL be match up with positive players too. Trust me!! Other than that, avoid playing rank and start play blind/draft. You can literally become anychamp with anybuild, I had gone Lulu top and ADC Annie but nobody judged me!! Its FAR more fun that rank, rank is just filled with toxic people, but remember, you can always kill them with kindness. When I initially play rank, the WHOLE team flamed me, they wish I get cancer, hit by a truck, trash, you name it. But few matches after that, my teammates (different people of course) starts to understand my situation and know that I'm new to rank, so instead of flaming, they give me helpful tips. Isnt that great!! No toxicity IN RANK, I didnt even believe it at first. Instead of calling me a ret*rd, they said I just need more experience to play in rank which in my opinion is actually heartwarming and of course, true. Another tip is to listen to music of your taste while playing, it makes the game more fun. I love upbeat and happy songs e.g: TWICE- What is Love, BLACKPINK- Forever Young and Shakira- Try Everything.

Anyway, hope this helps and have fun on the rift!! [slayer-jinx-wink]

Took me a while to get as tilt proof as I am I still get annoyed at the game every now and then but I use to RAGE BAD at video games as a whole I dont really at all anymore. The way I got this way is just confronting my current state as a person myself basically criticize your own actions. and I wont put it like you can just flip a switch and just dont get tilted anymore but by what you explained you dont sound like an angry person like I was so if you just take a step back and look at yourself when you get mad and tell yourself you cant get mad over dumb stuff I dont think it will take you very long to be tilt proof.

best of lucky to yah buddy

Don't play this garbage game, and you won't tilt.

I thought season 8 is worst but this season is complete hall of shame.

Well to be honest the system league has in place isnt in line with what you should do. It's built to force people to be nice out of fear for reprisal. The best thing you could do to not tilt is work out that pent up frusturation. Do some pushups during loading screen or something. Dont take what people type so seriously, muting can be a satisfying response if you make it a habit. But unfortunately leagues system isnt very forgiving when it comes to human nature.

I remember that this is just a game and I am playing it for fun, and choose not to participate in any negative activity that makes the game less fun for me.

If you find yourself trying to help some teammates but it isn't going well and they are complaining the whole time, try helping a different teammate that you wouldn't normally consider helping just because they are playing more calmly, which will likely lead to more favorable scenarios.

I used to be toxic. Not super toxic, but enough to get punished.

Since then my winrate and honer have gone up, with some tips I found online and implement to the best of my abilitys

  1. The key is do this to the best of your abilitys, if you mess up dont fret
  2. Give someone a POLITE warning, with reason once, then make liberal use of mute, ie "I get distracted when you spam pings, please slow down or I will have to mute" or "I saw my death, my bad, please dont flame. I dont want to mute but I will" - if they react poorly then mute.
  3. Encourage the team when they are behind, ahead, or dealing with another negative player. Complements help morale, and if our adc is afk farming just say "we can do this, just prentend he dissconected and lets focus, we got this"
  4. if you are OK with it, dodge pre game in a toxic environment.

I don't. But playing with friends and taking smoke breaks helps to break the tilt.

I tell people full stop that they are "harassing me over a VIDEO GAME" and usually it just fizzles out there as the reality of their childish behavior sets in. If they persist I just hit mute all and report for verbal. I always include copy pastes from post game in the report if they keep spouting shit. I stay silent no matter what though.

Honestly I made a post similar to this as well, ppl on their told me it’s about self control, the solution to ur teammates/enemies being assholes to u is right there, just mute them I have all chat turned off and I usually mute my whole team b4 a game starts, as for pings it’s up to u, also if I’m really tilted I just scream into a pillow I just let it all out into a pillow drink some water watch some YouTube and get back on track watch somethibg funny

This is an older thread but if anyone's still reading... I play a round of a game that I find really fun and relaxing - what game it is depends on the day - for about 10 to 20 minutes, then I get up and stretch or get something to eat. Then I go back and queue if I'm still feeling up for it! By the time I've started a new game I feel refreshed, and it stops me from getting matched with unpleasant people in my last game. Win-win.
