Board Warnings: How Long Do They Last?

Over the course of my Boards posting career I've received two warnings. Both rightfully earned, though one did lead to a rather unsuccessful support ticket when I was confused about which part earned the warning.

The first warning was there for a month or two, but then after checking my notifications it was gone. The second, on the other hand, has been there for 10 months now.

How exactly do these warnings and notifications work? Are both warnings still in effect, but one was cleared from my notification box? Are both warnings technically gone but I can still see the one warning? If the one warning is still in effect how does time effect it, exactly?

The notifications don't go away. Action on your boards account is taken on a case-by-case basis influenced by your history, so if it's something a long time ago even though they can see it it's up to them whether it should result in punishment or not. There is no automated system so you're not waiting to be considered "reformed" by a predetermined standard or anything. If a notification was removed it was probably done manually (there was a couple that everyone got due to an error, maybe that was it?)

As Deep Terror Nami stated, actions on your Boards account should never disappear from your history. I reviewed your account and only see the one you mentioned.

That being said, while it may still show up so we can see your overall history, older actions don't necessarily impact the punishments related to any current actions you may get. Just as with in-game punishments, recency and consistency are the primary factors.

Doesn't matter. You need tens of warnings, not two or three, before you ever get punished. Some people have gotten over 100.
