Can I have more clarification on your third party program policy?

Our Stance on 3rd Party Applications

Does this mean that I cannot use things such as;

  • Voicepacks/changes for champions such as using Korean/Japanese VOs.
  • Map texture packs
  • Death replay system etc.?

I am not referring to anything that directly changes play, only things for visual and audio stimulation.

Can rito please give a detailed explanation on their stance instead of the vague statement in the link, and if they already have can someone link it? Are they essentially saying "All 3rd party programs are not allowed in game"? Because alot of people dont follow that rule including pros who sponsor/promote the game so forgive me for my confusion.

3rd party programs are tolerated by Riot only if "visual and audio stimulation", as you call it, is the only functionality of the program. If the program could be used to affect the actual gameplay, it's not allowed, even if you don't use these features.

However things that affect gameplay is a fairly broad term. For example I'm not 100% certain about death replays. The only thing I know is that custom skins are no problem (again, only if the program doesn't have any other non-allowed features).

I have collected many posts and added som additional information about third party applications here: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/EN9AgNbP-garenos-justice-legal-and-illegal-third-party-applications

Hope the information will be of use! :)

They don't have a list of "approved" third party apps because, if the app changes, it could add a function or interact with the client in a way that is against the ToS.

As far as additions, voices and skins are generally okay. I'd be extremely wary of adding a killcam/deathcam function because of how it would interact with the client for instant feedback. (I don't even like them in FPS's, since it tells the enemy your location.)
