Punishment/Penalty Progression

So quick question. After years of playing this game, I finally got a chat restriction. And it was deserved, I lost my cool. But my question is, how exactly does punishment progression work? Will I ALWAYS have this punishment in my record, and if I get punished again does it just escalate in a linear progression to the next step? Or will this punishment eventually roll off after time spent not being toxic/playing honorably? I was just curious, because I didn’t really understand how the system worked and whether punishments decayed or if it was more of a strike system and they never fall off of your record, no matter how long it has been since the offense.
