Why is the Profanity Filter On even when Disabled?

Seriously, why is this? I thought it was Enabled by Default for a reason. Now whenever i say something using swear words, offensive or not, it gets filtered like **** this. Wth is this, League of Kindergarten? Those who Disable it Disable it for a reason.

Now words like "Fuck" and "Bitch" or "Shit" get instantly filtered. I mean why? I'd understand if N*gger or something like that was but just regular swears? Really? They're not only used for insults you know. "Son of a bitch , fucking fail flashed that bs thick wall." or just "Shit, i wasted my Ult." or "Fucking Ignite" etc etc are not insults. Or did the demographic for League players show mostly 12 - 14 year olds as of recent?

Look, i know it may sound "barbaric" and "primitive" to ask for this "feature" to get removed but a lot of people express themselves better like this. If someone uses it for insults, they get punished by Riot's logic. Also, i don't like people who pretend like they never swear. It's a completely natural thing. Or at least remove the "Profanity Filter" option entirely then as we don't really have a choice at the moment.

It's just bugged, and no they aren't going to disable it entirely as a workaround. I think you'll survive using less aggressive language for a little while.

Try swapping clients (legacy to beta or vice versa) and disabling the filter there, then going back.

this worked the first time it happened when i joined the beta client months ago. didn't work this recent time it happened. /chatfilter in game worked right as rain

Oh thanks for that. As i said, it's not for insults or being an idiot in general, it's just a more liberal way of expression as a whole in certain situations.

And believe it or not, there are people who don't swear and haven't said a single profane word.

Becuase profanity like so many things isn't "natural" like you claim. Nobody's born knowing those words.

Like so many things it's a habit. A learned behavior that some people simply find nothing wrong with. Doesn't make it natural or necessary for proper expression.

It is natural for some people. They are words. Nothing more and nothing less. People who disagree are just prude and need to get thicker skin. There is no such thing as word police, just people who get offended easily and think they are more than what they are and their way is the only way.

I could go into an entire college debate thesis the psychology behind swearing. I won't, but in a nutshell, the words and their meanings are taboo, and when your emotions spike to an extreme it feels emotionally better to use explicit language to express yourself because it encompasses the gravity of your emotion.

This is the difference between saying: "GOSH DARN IT, I CAN'T FREAKING BELIEVE THAT GUY KICKED MY BUTT!" versus "GODDAMMIT, I CAN'T FUCKING BELIEVE THAT GUY KICKED MY ASS!"

One is clearly more satisfying to express when when you're angry, and it's not the Puritan Michigan-mom talk.

Yes, becuase like what psychology also says, we are conditioned to react this way.

If you were to raise a child but to treat euphemisms as the real deal and treat the actual swears as euphemisms then by conditioning you make the swears euphemisms and unsatisfying to say.

Thus, I can use any word or phrase to get this feeling of satisfaction and my need for using swear words has disappeared.

Not knocking people who swear or anything, just sharing my reasoning.

I had this problem as well, log into one of the clients, enable then disable it, then log into the other, enable then disable it, fixed it for me, maybe you just have to enable/disable it on the new client and the legacy one doesn't do shit.
