I see it in nearly half the games I lose (hell, even sometimes when we win). "What are you, autistic? stop screwing up!" Riot is bleeping out "cancer" so now it seems like they need to bleep this too, because its disgusting how often I see this.

People on the autism spectrum are not stupid, I happen to be an aspie and so this really hits home when people do it. It's not funny, it never will be, and it paints people with this difficulty in a completely inaccurate light. STOP. Just remember you will be reported for hate speech every time you do thiis.

Whatever happened to "you're bad?" its still rude but it at least isn't disgusting (or, to tone it down a bit, highly misinformed)

-edit- I'm really disappointed in this community as a whole. the pattern of up and downvotes tells me that the League community as a whole tolerates this type of langauge as flaming banter. I was apparently under a false impression that Riot and the community both generally disapproved of this kind of toxic behavior.

as someone who is also autistic, it doesn't bother me. what now? we have to cater to the lowest common denominator? look at america's school system to see how that works. don't be so sensitive and just mute people.

The funny thing is, is that in an environment such as League, being called an autist is the least impactful insult if you understand the condition.

I've got aspergers. It's not really a problem to me because i can just live my life and that's that. (If anything, i have a problem with the fact that i totally lost the genetic lottery and also have a connective tissue disorder, which hinders me from doing basic shit like jogging or moving heavy shit risk-free).

But as i've lived 16 years with autism, i've kinda realized why it's not an insult when it comes to league.

League is a game about thinking, and strategy, on top of the basic stuff like reflexes. It's not a game where being emotionally and socially crippled will fuck you over.

If anything, i associate autism with an above-average logic comprehension, and a below-average emotional comprehension. It's not as cut-and-dry as that, but for what it's worth that's a fairly accurate depiction from what i've seen and what i've experienced.

So i don't really get offended in the slightest when some internet stranger screams about "hur dur autism", because it's not even an insult. It doesn't put into question your intelligence like they seem to want it to mean, it's kind of the opposite.

Now, if they were using it as an insult to someone's emotional state, that's when it's an insult and it kinda goes too far.

Report them for offensive language maybe. Hate speech is a different thing. They don't hate certain people. They just use these words as an insult. They don't really think about the exact meaning of those words. Ignorance — yes, hate speech — no!
