For all those people saying "You get banned for the littlest things GG"

There's this thing called....um what is it....lemme think.....

oh yeah. being NICE to people online. Maybe try it? Everyone says "OMG LEAGUES A BUNCH OF SISSIES WHO CAN'T STAND A SIMPLE FUCK FROM SOMEONE". Not completely true. I have said fuck plenty of times in my games. Heck I dare Lyte to show me my most recent chat logs. But y'know what? I don't flame my teammates.

Sure they screw up and its a bad moment where you lose a turret and stuff. But hey, you can do one of two things. You can either

  1. Flame them for their dive or greed or chase or being dumb OR
  2. Say "shit well that happened" and try to bring back with them.

Usually, teammates are much more willing to work with you if you AREN'T constantly insulting them. Sure they screw up but I'll bet my league account that everyone who's been banned so far has screwed up too and then blamed it on their teammates and ended up insulting them along with flaming.

Have I been reported? Hell yeah. Have I flamed? No. Have I been banned? Hell no.

If you've forgotten, if the report means nothing and is only say, for 1 game, then it'll pretty much get waived. I've probably gotten reported like once every 5 games or so mostly because I rotate between LCS player and then to cotton 5. But, seeing as those reports aren't valid, I haven't been banned, gotten a warning, nothing. So next time your teammate screws up, try and bring it back with them and shrug it off.

BUT, if they're a troll, thats a different case. If its a troll or intent feeder (REMEMBER, BEING BAD =/= INTENT FEEDING), just assume you've lost and report them after. Win some, lose some. But DON'T constantly call them out on it or troll/feed along with them. Then you're just as likely to be banned as they are. Try your best but assume you've lost.

So what have we learned? Saying fuck or shit or GOD DAMNIT is ok. DIRECTING those words at your teammate is NOT ok. If you still need help:

FUCKING SHIT SO CLOSE-ok FUCKING SHIT U SUCK AKALI-NOT ok

honestly, why does there even need to be a semi-guide for people out there? It's not rocket science. JUST BE NICE TO PEOPLE.

TLDR: You don't get banned for little things. It's almost like teacher tenure in this joint.

This'll sound like sophistry or edge casing, but 'nice' is not an objective word. The same action done to two people in identical contexts from your point of view can elicit two extremely different responses. You are hosting a dinner for your boss and his wife at a restaurant. The server brings pitcher of water to the table and serves it you all.

If your boss is American: Nothing out of the ordinary.

If your boss is European: This is about as offensive as flipping a bird because in Europe this implies that the customer is too poor to order something more than water.

'But that's just cultural differences!' It still proves my point, but ok.

Jungler ganks lane and earns a takedown on enemy. He taxes lane of 3 minions. Laner could be like silence or "You just got a takedown and have your jungle monsters. Why are you taking the minions in my lane like an asshole?"

'But lane tax is a thing!'

...

The jungler pings for a leash. You give him 2 hits and leave. He gets pissed off that you didn't stay longer. Were you mean to him even though social convention is one-and-done? Staying for longer than a second or two can severely weaken a laner's presence by being behind on minion advantage. This is infinitely more important than helping your first clear because it helps keep your laners alive and not feeds, allows them to maintain pressure on dragon/RH, and lets them dictate wave position more easily so you can gank in the first place. Because, let's face it, almost every time you are going to back after your first clear be at full health after using potions anyway. The only reason this would be useful would be vs Shaco or Lee Sin, but now I'm on a tangent.

This is all to say that telling people 'just be nice' is very hollow. What SHOULD be said is, 'communicate with people so you get a feel for how they might react.' It's not perfect because there's going to be that one time where you ask, "hey, what's up?" and a tumblrina is going to say, "FUCK YOU. I just watched UP and now you've got me all triggered again. I hope you're happy, you fucking asshole."

And really, when you ACTUALLY delve into what Riot says beyond just the 'don't be a jerk' platitude, you see that they actively want people to communicate with each other and try to work out just how to win this particular game with these particular people.
