Beneficial idea for ranked.

remove all chat: details on why:

ALL CHAT: positive uses: saying things like "wp, gj, nice combo, nice outplay", asking things like "how did that kill me, i Q'd you" which could be replied with "CC cant stop Vi ult,, its condiered an unstoppable movement".

kay, we have few things that could be positive here, but lets face it. these things are scarcly said. from my almost 4 years experience in this game. they are rare statements.

**negative uses: arguing with the enemy (no all chat, cant do it)

complaining about allies (well you cant really complain about allies, to your allies., i mean you can and people do, but they use all chat to do it, to boost their ego. they want to complain about allies, while letting the enemy know "its not my fault").

how often do people negatively use all chat? well in 4 years of playing this game i can say with a straight face atleast 90% of my games, involve negative conduct being conducted in all chat.

REMOVING ALL CHAT IS REMOVING A TOOL ABUSED BY TOXIC INDIVIDUALS. THE POSITIVES ARE HEAVILY OUTWEIGHED BY THE NEGATIVES.

IF YOURE GOING TO COMMNET WITH SOME ALONG THE LINES OF:

"dont remove it, because it doesnt hurt you if you mute it" "dont remove it, because i use it respectuflly" "dont remove it, because theyll find a different outlet"

DONT BOTHER. THESE ARGUEMENTS ARE ILLOGICAL.

FEW PEOPLE USING IT RESPECTFULLY DOESNT MEAN MAJORITY OF USERS DO.

MUTING IT DOESNT FIX THE PROBLEM, WHEN YOUR ALLIES ARE BUSY ARGUEING IN ALL CHAT. TEAM GAME, ALLIES BUSY TYPING IN ALL CHAT NEGATIVELY IMPACTS YOUR GAME. ATLEAST IN TEAM CHAT EVERYONE IS LIKELY TO MUTE THE GUY, IN ALL CHAT THE ENEMY IS LIKELY (THIS IS FROM EXPERIENCE), TO TILT THE INDIVIDUAL CRYING FURTHER BY PICKING A SIDE AND ADDING FIRE TO THE FLAME.

lets remove this ridiculous feature from ranked.

My argument in the original thread still stands;

A tool should not be removed just because some people use it to break the rules, you should punish the players that use it to break the rules. All chat can (and is) used by players to make the game more enjoyable for themselves.

I find the game is much more enjoyable when I can be friendly with even my opponents. There's no sense demonizing the enemy team when they're just there to play a game as well.

If you dislike allchat, you can leave it muted and if you believe someone is taking it too far in allchat you can encourage them to do the same.

it is not some people ho abuse it, is a majority of peolpe who use it, abuse it.

Like I said;

All chat can (and is) used by players to make the game more enjoyable for themselves. I find the game is much more enjoyable when I can be friendly with even my opponents. There's no sense demonizing the enemy team when they're just there to play a game as well.

Am I claiming that allchat isn't sometimes used for more negativity? No. I know that there will be people who will use any and every tool at their disposal to vent their anger at the game (and others) instead of relaxing.

But there are several aspects of the game that can (and is) used for negativity, but we're not to remove those because it's an aspect of the game.

Team chat Emotes post-game chat Pinging several abilities that can be used to troll (Anivia wall)

Some of those things have no bearing on helping you win the game either (and many times, Team chat becomes a pool of negativity that you have to mute so that you can focus on the game). The game is not just an effort to win, it's also an effort to have fun regardless of the outcome.

team chat is unfortunately neccessary. when someone has no clue how to handle a situation, or someone is shot-calling. pings arent enough, this isnt ranked 5s where everyones on voice com.

team chat is necessary. all chat isnt. same with emotes, they should leave the ranked game too.

anivia wall is a strong ability. very few use it to troll. most people in all chat, use it to violate the rules.

Problems are not caused by the tools used to abuse others. Your argument is akin to the argument that banning guns will stop violence, which has been proven untrue (most recently in the UK many times over).

all chat is a tool that has 0 benefits in ranked. guns are tools that have multiple benefits. (hunting/protection/occupational)

yeah all chat doesnt make people toxic. all chat just enables toxic players to tilt other toxic players further

It's called an analogy, it's intentionally not exact but it's a real world example that furthers understanding.

Also, yeah, we can stop ISIS from acquiring nukes, but how's that working? How many attacks have they carried out recently, all without nukes? Blocking one tool for toxicity does nothing but make it move to other directions such as trolling, subtle toxicity, toxicity to just your team, etc.

Another analogy: Some terrorists would love to get in the White House grounds. Does that mean the government blocks access to the White House for everyone? No, they allow it still because they know that taking away features/liberties doesn't stop bad people.

And even still, I do not agree with the removal of all chat suggestion.

thats fine. you can disagree. the individual that locked that thread will be penalized, a ticket has been open against them for abusing authrotiy.

"Abuse of Authority"? Sure it wasn't "Abuse of Report Button"?

As for the topic at hand, one thing I particularly disliked about Heros of the Storm was the lack of All Chat. I couldn't complement foes, no GG WP, nothing. I might as well have been playing against bots. I might not use it all the time, but removing All Chat feels worse.

It just didn't feel the same, especially with people leaving the game open or leaving the lobby quickly. That's not even counting complements for good plays mid game.

ive never played that game so i wouldnt know. all i know is all chat doesnt do anything beneficial for ranked play. like even saying "well played", to an outplay isnt beneficial in ranked.

you are not supposed to empower the enemy team. thats like in a football game, (before it ends and everyone sais GG), the linemen getting in position for the snap all saying, great job guys. nice defense.

you do that after the game. not during the game. in a normals./private w/e but not in ranked mang.

Different people have different philosophies on the subject. I see no reason to be less friendly/sportsmanlike just because the queue says "Ranked". It's suppose to be a measure of you playing your best, not what you can do to make the enemy play worse.

all chat serves to make enemies and allies play worse, it doesnt increase anyones ability to play. but it doesnt hinder a lot of peoples mind-set.

Typing when you shouldn't, or letting things typed at you tilt you, is what makes you play worse. It really doesn't matter if that chat is All Chat or Team Chat.

team chat is required w/o voice com. you cant ping everything unfortunately. especially at low elo.

when my allies are too busy typing to play the game, its a problem. removing all chat doesnt remove them from raging at allies. but when people rage in regular chat, and they get muted by your team, its done-or brought to all chat.

when people argue in all chat, even if your team mutes him, hes still gonna be raging in all chat. getting tilted further by the enemy and typing more than hes playing.

its not 100% fix. but i think its a step in the correct direction

The enemy is also typing then. If you're going to claim that allchat is a distraction on the team, it's a distraction for both teams, not just your own.

People are choosing to use allchat. It's not an involuntary action. You don't get to control when the team can and can't use chat just as you don't get to control what item path they think is best for the team.

yes the enemy is also typing. most of the time its things like LOLOL or getgud. while your 0/5 top is saying "1v1, im only behind because blahblahblah". and even if it was equal amounts of distraction,

it doesnt belong in ranked.

Once again, I argue that if someone is misbehaving or distracting themselves in allchat, they'll likely just misbehave and distract themselves in some other way if all chat wasn't available.

The problem is not with the tool, but with the people who misuse it.

Given that all chat is an opt in feature. It should stay. Don't like it turn it off. Riot shouldn't remove a feature because some people very visably abuse it.

In my experience moat people don't talk. Given human biases you only really remember the ones who do. You have an issue with your teammates talking. Well that's just it it's YOUR problem. All chat should stay and those who abuse it leave I know there are those who use it like it was intended and punishing them for the outspoken minority is just dumb

Simple, those using it as intended aren't breaking any rules. It's not really a big deal or long logic jump. It's a competitive environment in ranked sure, but it's like a weekend bowing league no one is a professional so those who aren't abusing the feature shouldn't be punished for the idiots who are.

lets not remove any tax breaks from the 1% right? because the majority doesnt matter. im not saying remove it from normals. im saying it has 0 positives in ranked, but it has many negatives in ranked. removing it would be beneficial for the majority.

Do you know what majority means? This isn't an exact cross section of the league community bur lookIng through this thread you are in the minority, by a significant margin.

My argument, that you seem to ignore, is that the majority of players who aren't abusing a feature should NOT be penalized by having that feature taken away because of the actions of a few.

You want to take the drivers licenses away from all because of a few careless individuals.

just because im out-numbered in this thread doesnt mean most people use all chat for unsportsmanlike conduct.

most people do infact use it for unsportsmanlike conduct. coming from the guy with thousands of games in ranked. i dont have exact numbers.

but id be willing to wager the entirety of the settlement im going to receive from a lawsuit against new york state [prob2-3years. lawyers >_>] that if riot monitored all chat. 24/7 every game's all chat and recorded how often it was used as intended, you'd change your tune.

its not a penalty for you. oh boo hoo if it happened, you wouldnt be able to talk to the enemy team during ranked game. it didnt hurt you at all. oh you cant say good job to an enemy, thats terrible. unthinkable.

i dont have a source. i have my experience over multiple accounts, multiple years, and thousands of ranked games. not hundreds. thousands. i play this game 80+hours a week.

edit- care to explain how its a penalty to not allow you to talk to the enemy in ranked? every second spent typing to them could have been uses watching the map, purchasing items, discussing strategy with allies in team chat.

I've done nothing wrong and I lose a feature I mat have used a lot to chat. It's s game dude, even ranked, people chat. I may have been a guy who gives pointers and just makes the whole game a grand time for all. I've encountered players like thus more than once.

Brilliant comeback there dude. Did it occur to you that these talkers do keep track of that stuff and still chat. Obviously not. Some people will use it as a comedic vent, not being toxic, cracking jokes to keep themselves from tilting.

im sure i missed a dozen things. and no, im not pro. im not perfect. but atleast i try to focus on as much stuff as i can in ranked.

This post proves you really aren't interested in a discussion. Instead you wan to talk/type at posters and all agree and slap you on the back for your suggestion.

Mocking people in a discussion is a guarantee people will write you off.

It's fine not to trust links, but I was trying to assist you with recognizing your own bias so you can argue your point effectively. You have a theory about all chat but your unwilling to prove it except to say you have data based on your experience.

But then based on your "experience" alone you try to persuade the community to agree. How's that going for you?

If this is important to you, then gather data, run some experiments, draw a conclusion based on your findings and report back here.

Otherwise, don't post here expecting to convince the community. I mean if you reported someone then what was your objective in posting here?

You are ONE person of a community of thousands if not millions your experience is biased. If Riot comes in and backs you that's one thing otherwise you've got nothing to prove your side but hot air.
