How does the banning tier system work

I have received my first ban in 3 years of playing League yesterday. It was a 14 day ban. I think I have gotten a 10 game chat restriction last year but that's it.

The ban was over toxicity

Is it supposed to go straight to a 14 day ban for the first tier of punishment for toxicity?

The tiers are;

  • 10 game chat restriction
  • 25 game chat restriction
  • 14 day account ban
  • Permanent account ban

You can skip tiers for extremely toxic behavior, such as using hate speech or making threats/urging self-harm.

If you're "average" levels of toxic, you get a 10 game chat restriction, a 25 game chat restriction, a 14 day ban, then a permaban.

If you're beyond that (particularly if you use zero-tolerance phrases that are racists/homophobic) then you skip punishment tiers.

If you're well behaved for a prolonged period of time, you'll drop punishment tiers.

Going straight to a 14 day ban without any recent punishments means that you were either intentionally feeding, using "hate speech", or were manually banned for some reason.

The tier is normally a 10 game chat restriction, a 25 game chat restriction, two week ban, and then permaban.
