3rd Party Programs=Permaban

Hello, first I would like to point out that this is not a sob story. It is what it is.

Recently I have been perma-banned for use of malicious or 3rd party programs. The only programs I could think of are Razor Synapse, Discord, and LoLSkinsViewer. Now given that Riot knows fully well about Synapse and Discord, I can safely assume those are not the issue. LoLSkinsViewer on the other hand was made by a person on Reddit, and is fairly new. My guess is that app triggered flags to the system. I have already submitted a ticket giving them information, and am currently waiting on a response. Given that the ticket is being processed still, I won't be removing any programs from my computer. So here's to hoping my other accounts do not get banned.

Also, for some reason when I'm on my other accounts, I get a terrifying notice after each game: "This account has been permanently suspended..." yatta yatta. But no actions have been taken place, nor were emails sent. These messages give me mixed signals about the account which I am currently disputing Riot's actions on. But we'll see. Will post updates whenever I receive them.

Edit: My initial ticket submission:

I'm unsure why, but your system has permanently banned my account for using malicious 3rd party programs or modifications to your League of Legends client. The only things I can think of that could possibly trigger these flags in your system are Razor Synapse, Discord, and LoLSkinsViewer. I understand use of any 3rd party programs are a violation of the terms, but I also know your team is lenient when it comes to those that do not affect the competitive gameplay and overall fun for others. I feel I was wrongfully banned and would like to dispute the action you placed on my account. Here are the links to the three programs I listed: Razor Synapse: https://www.razerzone.com/synapse Discord: https://discordapp.com/ LoLSkinViewer: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/5pz08q/i_made_a_small_application_that_lets_you_see/ If there is anything I can do to supply your team with more information, please let me know.

Their copy & paste response:

Hello Summoner, We have a system in place which detects third party software. This system found clear evidence on your account that the account played on was modified in a way to give an unfair advantage over others. We take the use of malicious modifications very seriously and consider it an egregious act against the League of Legends community. The negative effect the account had on the community is irreversible and it had an extremely negative impact on the other players in the game. Since this is the case we will not be adjusting the permanent ban. I know you want to see our evidence, and you want to hear specifics about the situation. Unfortunately, I can't tell you any additional details because players with malicious intent often write into us asking about things like this, trying to figure out how they got caught so that they avoid detection better in the future. I am sorry, but I can't tell you any more details as it could compromise our investigation. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but this is our unwavering policy. The use of unauthorized third-party programs is against the Terms of Use, which can be found here: NA: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/legal/termsofuse Keep in mind that account sharing of any kind is also against the Terms of Use. You are responsible for all activity on your account, so be sure to keep your account information to yourself. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. My reply:

I would like to request a full diagnostic into this matter. I fail to comprehend what I have done to trigger these flags. I have never once used third-party software to cheat or put myself at an advantage above others. I truly feel this is an unjust ban. The software I provided previously, are the only software I use. I understand you cannot give me specifics into the matter, but some closure would be nice. I want to know you have done everything in your power to see this through.

Things are not looking good. I've provided them with all the information that's to my knowledge, and in return I'm feeling pushed aside for the next ticket.

First of all, let me address your logic which is very faulty: "I got banned for using a third party program that's not allowed, I'm pretty sure what it is, but let me just keep logging in with that program installed on my other accounts". Don't be surprised when every single account you played any games with gets banned if you don't rectify the problem.

Secondly, I could see them issuing a ban for the LoLSkinsViewer. The person on Reddit is incorrect - Riot doesn't make a determination on every single application they see as to "good/no good". They look for key elements that signify an application is in violation of the Terms of Use, and an automated system flags most of the cases. Very rarely (such as high profile cases of Curse, Discord, etc) they will issue an official determination, but all other programs are "use at your own risk".

Considering this program looks a lot like the client, it's possible that the developers used some of the client's files and/or access client files while the program is running. I don't have the time right now to look into the code to see if that's the case, but if it is, it's likely to be the culprit as Riot commonly flags any program which accesses "critical game/client files", i.e. anything necessary for the game/client to run properly.

Note: While having something like Razor Synapse installed is not illegal, using the macro functions to bind multiple commands to one button or key is. The famous example being Lee Sin: Using one key to drop a ward then immediately jump to it. That's not allowed, and if Riot discovers you doing it, they'll ban you.

If you already know this, just ignore my post.

Just a hint.. never trust strangers on the internet who want you to download a third party application for a game. They wwant you to download it - they dont care about you or your account. They will tell you scripts are allowed if they think you naive enough.
