People that tell you to commit suicide.

Summoners that tell you to commit suicide should be punished more severe than those who just call you names in game. This behaviour should be punished on sight and the punishment should not require repetitive behaviour over certain amount of games. Its disgusting and its below any standards (even mine ). It's more gamebreaking than any shit you can type in chat, and people who do it and feel that they wont be punished should not exist. I may be salty but i'm done with people who think spamming chat with "kys " etc is just as bad as calling someone " idiot " its not the same. It actually is very diffrent and this said it should be punished in diffrent way.

People that do it frequently digust me , and the knowledge that they will be punished the same way tilted guys that cant hold their nerves are, if obv they willl be punished at all makes me sad. Both behaviours are unacceptable but are very diffrent and the severity is diffrent. I strongly believe that people who tell you to commit suicide should be punished instantly and on sight not just after they show "repetitive toxic behaviour"

I'd personally like rito to take a "funner" stance on stuff like this (hear me out first before hovering the downvotes). Basically, instead of instantly giving someone a ban for bad behavior, what if they forced them to watch/listen to videos based on the corresponding thing? Incredibly salty to your teammates? Watch a 5-min video on the manufacturing of commercial salt in which you have to answer a quiz at the end before you can play any more games. Tell your teammates to "kill themselves" for losing lane? Watch a 20min long video on cyber bullying in which you have to write a detailed paragraph on the topic. Rito's punishments have literally been CTRL+C and CTRL+V for the longest times, wouldn't it be nice to finally see punishments fit the crimes?

The tribunal system or whatever the fuck they have, should put Hate Speech on high priority. Not randomize it.

Welcome to the internet, this has happened over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. Most people either grow a backbone or ignore the trolls. Once KYS becomes worn out, then people will find a more absurd comment to make when they are mildly annoyed with someones actions. People are going to say what they feel, and no amount of censorship will ever change that, regardless how many words or phrases will be banned.

The reason toxicity is so popular in league is because the game itself has created a competitive environment, where multiple people need to act together in order to win a game, especially in competitive. When one or more members aren't pulling their weight, then the rest of the team gets upset with them. Toxicity is completely natural in a game such as this. Simply because of how the game is structured, people will always feel a need to be toxic sooner or later, and no phrase is ever off the list for them to use.

You can go ahead and ban people who use KYS all you want, it will not solve the main issue with the game, if you can even call it an issue. Frustration is a natural aspect of life, and everyone will experience it sooner or later, and when it does happen, reactions to it are very random. It sure does suck when you get ripped on by someone with all sorts of rude phrases, but in the end it doesn't matter, you will never see these people again.

Also, the very idea of banning people off of what they type sets a pretty nebulous principle of what is acceptable, and what is bannable. Fortunately Riot seems to have a pretty visible line of what is and isn't bannable, and even more fortunately, leave the offense of those statements up to the players in a game, AKA the report system. People have the power to deem what is offensive and what isn't, and if other players agree on the offense of the action, then that player will be punished. Any other system would lead to players being able to be punished by a minority, thus leading to instances where just one premade can get an individual banned regardless if that solo said anything at all.

Yeah, getting told to KYS sure does suck, but there isn't anything that can be done with it that isn't already being done. A reduction in the amount of reports it takes to punish someone can lead to abuse from either premades, or individuals who really just don't like that player. Banning a player on sight for using those words will just lead to more variations of that acronym. Oh, and trust me, there are comparatively much worse things that can be said. Ironically they are mostly used as jokes and shitposting, but seeing as many people who play this game are incapable of ignoring a complete strangers comments, be glad that its ONLY KYS that you are seeing in league games.

If it were my choice however, I'd certainly like to see the overwatch approach taken to toxic comments, it certainly defuses the situation and might even untilt the toxic player as well. IDK, I think it would be extremely funny to see certain phrases changed to the complete opposite of the intended statement, regardless of the efficiency.

There was a reply to a similar post that I can't agree with more.

Basically the comment said that he has been through things and he has thought about suicide on and off for the past year, he has had help but what people said to him in this online video game has had no effect on it. It didn't steer him in either direction.

Someone who should be sensitive to it, wasn't. You're overreacting. The fact that you can even get punished for typing in chat is ridiculous. Just mute the dude.

I don't know, if it's 30 minutes into aram and you got 0 death 10k+ gold unspent, I really don't think there's anything wrong with telling you to commit suicide.

Taking offense is a subjective thing. My mom had cancer, but people wish cancer on eachother all the time. Yeah it sucks, but I really don't feel anything other than "oh some kid trying to be edgy" because I realize how bullshit it is to pick n choose what you take offense from and to punish people based on that. Some people take offense to anti semitism. Some anti religious. Some anti gay. It's all just words from anonymous strangers online. Just try to remember you're not special, you're not the judge of morality, you're just a human among billions of humans. Don't take anything anyone says online personally.

Just mute people holy shit, how hard is it ?

Troll for Trump2/18/2017, 6:24:24 AM3 votes

An insult only means anything if the person gets offended by it.

If you tell random ppl to kill themselves, they mostly won't be affected, unless they actually are suicidal. Essentially, you're catering to the minority.

It's the same with any insult in general. Good players don't care if you call them bad, but bad players will.

What these all have connected is that they are all personal insults; personal insults should be punished more.

Singling out one type of personal insult is no different than the offenders. You're just singling out one group of people because it's something you're offended by. The problem with many movements is that they don't recognize that they are minorities. The media will draw attention to just one minority group, and suddenly, half the population randomly hops in the bandwagon.

I know...people shouldn't be able to state their negative opinions! It's not like human nature or anything! We need to punish them! Send them to the tribunal!

You need to get your head out of the dumpster. Mute them. It is an extremely handy tool that many ignore. All it takes is one click.

TheStrider2/18/2017, 6:45:56 PM3 votes

Quite honestly, one of the problems with all toxicity in general are us people who "don't like it".

Many of people who are non toxic, like me, usually respond to toxicity, I don't use bad language or stuff, but when someone makes a mistake, other guy goes "kys" or "tyvm noob", I respond with something like "Shit how old are you, relax, people make mistakes". One day I realized that, on average, their response is usually something along the lines of "fk ur moder", and hence I stopped acting like a parent to everyone.

You know what works, 100 % of the time, though ??

MUTE BUTTON

Now of course I don't like doing this, I love seeing a funny smartass in chat and playing ball. However, for anything along the lines of "ez", "gg 5 man", "kys", "noob" or any general toxicity, just mute that player. Someone who takes more time to insult you and act like a moron is not going to give great info on chat anyway, you are not missing anything. Additionally, instead of being mad and wanting to respond with common sense (or even bigger insult, I don't judge), you are going to focus on the game.

As a testament to this, I was in bronze few days ago. Chat was always a cluster...truck of insults, "noob mid" and things like that. Now I am climbing through silver, and chat is insanely less populated - ironically, I find that in these games I perform better, I am less negative, and players overall follow the calls and initiatives better than they did in bronze. Obviously, this is due to a bit better rank, but still, it's a fact that in order to WIN, chat is supposed to be only a stream of useful information like "Elise botside", "we can baron cait lee bot", etc. Anything that doesn't provide actual useful info is something you remove immediately. Yes, I know that our Lux is 0/5, and telling her to kys won't help her, nor me since I will have another tilted teammate, and it may just mean I get caught while trying to motivate with strong words beginning with F.

I believe that anyone having problems with toxicity should simply mute everyone who is toxic, and report it after, if you remember. Yes, it's better to have everyone great and unmuted, but it's not a perfect world.

I'm pretty depressed and quite suicidal. Maybe I'm just mentally retarded but when someone tells me to "Fucking kill yourself you degenerate scum" it makes me laugh so hard. Cause guess what they took their time to tell me to kill myself. I laugh cause its funny that people insult someone over the internet. Most of these people would never tell someone to kill themselves irl because they'd get backlash. The best insult they can come up with is "KYS" its quite sad. People get punished way more quickly for toxic chat then int. Its stupid that we punish people for toxic chat faster than int. Its quite stupid I hate it. If you disagree with me thats fine. If you agree with me thats fine. Remember don't take life to seriously. Some people like rainy days some like sunny days. That's why we have opinions. Opinions are beautiful. If nobody had different opinions the world would be boring. The "tribunal" needs a rework really badly. Int should be punished faster than toxic chat. Thanks for reading have a great day
