Will tribunal ever wor
Will the league tribunal system ever work or was something Riot just made to lie about punishing players. Every time I try to go to the tribunal it says its down for maintenance. It's been a few months since it hasn't been up.

The Tribunal was replaced by the Instant Feedback system. It will not be coming back.
EDIT: The Tribunal has not been confirmed to be down permanently, but the Instant Feedback system is what we have right now. My bad.
There should be an announcement about that. Instead of having us all wait like idiiots
tribunal 2.0 will be back, and will compliment the IFS.
chances are in the new client, after some of the techy-spaghetti code has been solved.
derp hopefully it comes back soon
There has been no announcement that it's not coming back. On the contrary; it was planned to come back after they were done with Dynamic Queue (which is not done), along with a new Honor System. If you have an official source you can cite that says it won't, please provide it.
Guess I got a little ahead of myself, since I've been checking around since I posted that. I've always assumed that it directly replaced the Tribunal.
lets think about SoloQ... "yea it will come back" months later "fuck you we lied" same goes for tribunal
that sucks instant feedback is stupid they probably dont even read the dam text we send
The IFS parses your data and logs for toxic behavior. It is very efficient at tossing out false reports, with a false positive rate of 1:6000, and it does this within 15 minutes of the triggering report.
If a player is punished and think it was an error, they can submit a ticket and request their case be manually reviewed to appeal it. However, if you run through the PB&M boards for punished chat logs people have shared, you'll see that the system works quite well. The problem is that some players don't want to accept that their behavior is consistently or extremely negative, or they believe there is a justification for it.

Does it even tell you if a person gets a 10 chat game restirction?

If by that you mean does it alert you if a player that you reported gets punished then no, that only happens if it was your report that triggered a review and punishment of the person in question.
To be honest that's kinda dumb everyone that reported and was part of the report should get the message. This way players know that the system is fair and actually works. If not then people start to think that they are not getting punished.

I understand your concerns. However, there's really no need for every single person that reported a later punished person to get the notification that they got punished. As long as you know that you made a valid report against someone then you know that they will eventually be punished if they continuously act that way.
There is no point in reporting people then if you don't know that the system actually works. People want to know that the person got punished. If not there is no point in even reporting someone. I'm not saying which exact person but just a notification about a report you sent

Not reporting increases the chances of the offender not getting punished for acting up. The system does work (as evidenced by the countless "why am I punished?" threads), but there's no need for us to constantly get messages regarding whether someone is punished or not. Besides, the reason we aren't told if they are punished or not is due to privacy reasons. Bottom line: as long as you know that you've made a valid report against them then you've done your job.
Will it come back? Maybe. Just like anything else riot does, Soon.
the tribunal was a god awful lynch mob of simpletons. i'm not sure why anyone would ever care to see it's return.
Wasn't it a way for players to defend themselves.

Eh, depends on who you ask. Basically players would go through up to 5 games of a single case that contained how many of each side reported them (along with a reason as to why if one was written), the chat logs of the entire game (both ally and enemy chat) and the end-game stats of the entire ally team as well also. Once a player made a decision they would vote to either punish, pardon or pass on the case.
it's kinda fair. And a rioter should be there as well to see if the vote is justified or not

From what I remember Rioters always reviewed them before applying punishment, at least for the permabans anyways. When reviewing a case we have to ask ourselves "is this the kind of behavior that I would want to play with?" and if not then hit punish. If a person was punished or pardoned then we would be told that in the Tribunal client and our voting accuracy would go up or down accordingly along with what kind of punishment it was as well also. The whole accuracy thing is partly why some people just spammed punish or pardon as they wanted to try to get their accuracy as high as possible.
Also, back in the early days of the Tribunal a very small IP reward (just 10 IP) was given to people who successfully voted on cases. However, this was later removed when it was discovered that some people were only voting in the Tribunal for the IP and nothing more. Lots of people tried to use that as an excuse to try to cry foul over their bans long after the IP rewards were removed to no avail. The goal in removing the IP rewards was to try to ensure that the only people voting in the Tribunal were the ones that actually cared.
P.S. Before you ask people were actually punished if all they did was spam punish and/or pardon, so the people who did that didn't get away with it for long.
