ARAM AFKers

Almost every ARAM game there is an afker who dcs immediately or after a few minutes, other players are late to the game missing first crucial minutes of the game. Nobody takes ARAM seriously while ranked is, which doesn't make any sense since 99% of players won't make money of it unless they're diamond 1 or higher, which again vast majority of players aren't. So if ranked and ARAM are just as serious in being just games for fun, why do you guys at RIOT tolerate this substantially higher afk attitude in ARAM. I talked to one guy who intentionally fed and he said reports in ARAM don't mean anything, I don't know if this is true, but I'm inclined to believe so. Just because ARAM is not considered "serious", what I'm supposed to be fine with losing while playing 3v5?

Don't listen to that guy, he's making assumptions. Yes you certainly can get punished for an ARAM game.

Still, nothing is being done, if ranked games have afker once every 15 games, normal games have afker every 5 games, aram has afker every 2 games, and some who are late to the game always, they must be like why don't I make myself a sandwich while my team loses a couple of turrets, then we'll try to win in vain.

Leaverbuster is automated and just puts the player into low priority queue. Afaik, you can't be banned for afking alone. So these players are getting punished, you just can't see it.

I think the reason that the punishments aren't harder for afking is because real life is a thing and Riot recognizes that fact.

So real life can interrupt ARAM game but not ranked game?

I think the reason that the punishments aren't harder for afking is because real life is a thing and Riot recognizes that fact.

Real life things don't make you go to the LPQ either. But when you reach a certain threshold of AFK's regardless of the reason, the account needs to be banned. I been playing for 5 years and can count on one hand how many times I had to AFK for "Real Life" things. I make my self accountable by making sure that nothing is going on and that I have time to play. That is too much common sense for most gamers today and when you have a system that bleeds abuse, those lacking any level of integrity will abuse it.

LPQ is a slap on the wrist and allows abusers to keep on abusing it.

I agree, extensive consistent afking should be punished harsher, but I think not perma.

I only got a warning from leaverbuster once personally because of a power outage.

Eventually it should be. It's the most toxic thing in league, yet treated differently for whatever excuses they wish to use. You can't mute an AFK and they significantly put the other players on the team at disadvantage. Not to mention the time that is wasted by those who try to 4v5 the best they can but fall short anyway. IMO RIOT should relook at this BS system they created.

Afkers are bad, agreed, but "the most toxic thing" is hardly true, since for example intentional feeders exist. Also, some of the 4vs5 fights are actually the most enjoyable matches I have fought, and the ones that aren't those fun ones are usually lost quickly and thus you get to new match soon enough. Just don't forget to report the afker, so if he does afk regularly, he will be punished soon enough. If it was isolated afk incident, he is forgiven...for now.

Bottom line is, there are worse things than chat toxicity and those are virtually ignored by RIOT.

Imo permanent suspension is fine as punishment, as long as he is first punished by the three other punishments of the punishment ladder first. That will take a lot of reports to happen after all and that means plenty of afking and suffering for the other players.
