Self mute option!

Hi everyone!

So since, we do not have a self-mute option in LoL, even when some people asked for it. (And I'm too stupid to find, or there is no way to unbind the enter key for chat.) Here is a small app, what does the self mute for you.

It's written in C#, expected to work on all windows machines which has .NET framework. I do not share an executable, since all the idiots would assume that i'm spreading a malware, so feel free to compile it yourself. (Free tools are available from Microsoft itself.)

I do NOT take any responsibility, if this app gets you banned (I assume it wont), or crashes, ruins your game/computer burns down your house, force aliens to make anal probing on you etc etc…

Feel free to modify it etc... I do not even care if you give credits, since even script kiddies are able to do this. The code is not optimized in any way, just threw together to work. I personally did not feel any performance impact on the game, but check it in a custom game, if you plan to use it.

The app can only be closed from task manager, and while it runs it blocks all ENTER presses in LoL only. If you want to extend it to pre and post game lobby feel free to do it.

CODE

Have fun playing the game and not being able to make you banned ;)

Ps.: All criticism is welcome, but as I said, this is not the best I can make. This is the fastest I can make a crap code :P

easy way to self mute is dont use chat, dont ever press the enter key.

why do people find it so hard?

I have zero need for such a thing so not going to compile it. But if this works as intended (with no other functions....), then this is is a very nice thing you did for the community. Have an upvote!

Don't use any third party programs while you're running league. It's advised that the system could pick you up and ban you for using a third party program because it thinks you're cheating somehow by using scripts. Don't risk your account because you don't have the self control not to hit enter.

force aliens to make anal probing on you etc etc

First Apple stops me using itunes to make nuclear weapons, and now this. Is ANY software worth downloading anymore? [sg-lulu]

Great. Now silenced toxic player will just troll/AFK/Intentional Feeding a lot more since they can't use chat anymore.

How I know? Riot literally did perma-chat before in the past, and it didn't ended well.

Self-mute wouldn't be useful for me personally, but I can see how that could benefit League in general. Didn't vote one way or the other.

About that C# program you said you have included; that can most likely be considered as a some kind of illegal tool league which you aren't supposed to use and that may get the user banned. I don't know if someone giving others the code for that can be considered an accomplice for that, but I believe he can be, so you account might be in danger thanks to the above.

I think that having a self-mute button, or a "vent" button could help players vent out their frustrations during a match. Imagine you have a bad day, then you come home and scream your lungs out into a pillow. You're able to get rid of a lot of anger, and you don't scare your family, flatmates, or neighbors.

I was recently less than kind in one of my games, and I got a chat restriction for it, even after having honor 5 most of the season. I'm not saying I didn't have it coming (I said some nasty things), but I feel like things might have gone differently with a self mute button, or a place in chat to scream all I wanted without anyone seeing. The "enter key + mean thoughts" duo can be very tempting and easy to use, and either of the coping options mentioned above would help people re-center and calm down.

For the "vent" option, It would be like beating the tar out of a punching bag. No one would see what you type (other than yourself), and it wouldn't count towards being toxic (as no one else would see it). I seriously hope that Riot looks into this; as a player with ADHD and difficulty with impulse control, I would love it if they implemented this, or at least offered something similar. Even if no one else sees what I type into it, I know that I could use a riot-pillow to scream my all-caps into.

It really stinks that I might miss out on ranked rewards because of a slip up, and I don't want other people fighting stress to have to go through the same scenario that I am. End of season can be really stressful and tense, especially with the school/work year starting for a lot of people. And we ALL know that those can suck all KINDS of waste-dispersal organ.

Riot, PLEASE look into this. Because sometimes, just ignoring people isn't enough.

Thanks for reading this essay. And here's to playing with honor!

I guess some players really do need to have their keyboard taken away from the excluding QWERDF and Numbers.

On another note I see this as a useful tool so you don't find yourself in the middle of a full sentence when three enemy champions spot you in a bush. But then again, shouldn't be typing long posts like that in an unsafe area.[zombie-brand-clap]
