An Open Letter to the Boards.
(This is not a nice and fluffy letter) Dear Boards, I'm sick and tired of the circlejerks about pretty much anything. Honestly, right now, the way the boards is set up is inherently toxic. We talk about players ingame who are some how so much more terrible, and yet we see circlejerks like no one has ever seen before. We abuse the downvote button without saying why, or even attempting to clarify. The boards needs sweeping changes at this point, because we're just as bad as an angry mob of lynchers who kill on sight. But it's not just the way the system is designed, but the people who run it. An old metaphor recognizes this. It reads, "Rock is OP, paper is fine. -Love Scissors". We need to be more mature as a whole, not just blame the system. We need to learn to recognize others and their opinions, not just spam the downvote button. It wasn't made so that tank mains can downvote someone who says ADCs should be able to kill tanks. The downvote button should not be our way of expressing our disagreement; rather we should learn to disagree respectfully but still recognize that the opinion is valuable. We should start by looking at other points of view. In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch famously remarks, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view … until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” As a community we should recognize the value of such wisdom, rather than blindly rejecting the "other" as stupid, selfish, or ignorant. There is more than one right answer, you know. And plenty of answers that may be wrong but still have wisdom in them. I challenge the boards to reform as a whole. And who knows? Maybe Gameplay won't be such a meme for M&G.
Sincerely Slntreaper
