Why am I reported & harassed for playing Ziggs in the bot lane.

I recently saw Ziggs Bot be used in a pro game. I played Ziggs bot before. Back when it was meta, like a lot of other people did. I decided that I wanted to play it again and queued up in "Normal Draft" game. I queued up for Bot & Mid. Once I got into select I told my team I wanted to play Ziggs. I was 2nd pick. No one said anything until the last like 5 seconds and no one said don't pick it or play something else. So I ended up locking in Ziggs. And team was ok about it. There was a little, "gg, welp, we lost" in chat them saying 90% of Ziggs ADC are bad, but nothing bad.

Once we got into game. We played a bit. Everyone was chill. My support started to die a lot, as well as did the other laners. Our jg d/c'd and came back later. I told my team lets just ff @ 15, the game wasn't going too well for us. We were losing badly. When the Surrender vote came around I voted yes, thought my team would vote yes too, due to them not having a good time and telling us in chat. But someone voted, NO. Now I can only assume this was what started their toxic & aggressive behavior towards me. Which carried into, ALL CHAT, and after the game. My guess is they thought I voted No. And wanted to blame me for what was happening that game. We got into a team fight. And after helping my top laner get a kill, I could see my team was dead. And I ran away not wanting to die with them. I was then flamed & called useless/trolling. They would carry out for the rest of the game. With my team blaming me, and told me I was trolling. They even told said in, ALL CHAT, that I was trolling and to report me. I wasn't trolling at all. When the game finally ended they continued the flaming & asking for me to be reported. They told me I was trolling & useless because I had less dmg than anyone. When all I have is a Doran's Ring, Sorc-Boots, Tear, and a Tome. I'm not going to be dealing much dmg. I didn't help that the enemy team was fed too.

I tried to explain to them that Bot Lane does not mean ADC. They told me that I lack brain, because it's common sense. I know RIOT approves of expanding & trying new things out. "Pipe Bomb Braum 911(: : whatever, hope u get banned for trolling." or "Defensore: U LITERALLY DID NOTHING".

I don't know what can be done about this. But putting others down, wrongful reporting, asking others to report. That shouldn't be allowed. I hope this post helps make things better. I hope something is done to these two players who harassed & wrongful reported me. For no other reason than them wanting to blame someone else for having a bad game.

People harass and report because its "different" and they are stupid aholes. But, they also report it because it is potentially weak. Without the old mana runes its challenging for a average silver/bronze Ziggs player or any AP botlaner to keep up with the potential shove and poke, and hp sustain of a meta ADC marksman in botlane. Also, lategame dps from an ADC can be essential for team composition, taking objectives, and winning the game. The reason that botlane was synonymous with ADC for so long is because ADC's are usually essential for the game and that was the optimal lane for them to farm.

Lol it just happens sometimes. Sometimes you get that grumpy fucker or two in your game that wants everything their way. Hell, I play anivia/sion bot combo with a friend and we hardly ever get flamed for it. It just happens sometimes.

Well, if you logged in to find you weren't punished for it... try not to stress over it anymore. It sucks that people are assholes, but that's just the internet in general. This shit will keep happening to players unless Riot gets rid of the chat box, but they'll never do that.

Thanks for trying to be a team player and helping your team despite the trolling and flaming. I would hope Riot would recognize that and that's why your team's reports fell on deaf ears.

I've personally found that generally people are ok with off-meta picks, even really weird ones, with the single caveat being that they expect you to actually make it work. They get upset if you lose lane, but I found that even then it's not too bad. However, god forbid you have a bad game. The assumption, rightly or wrongly, is that a more meta pick would have resulted in at least a less shitty performance - and by extension, you single-handedly screwed over your entire team. And they will tan your hide with their vitriol.

The behavior is understandable, if not particularly nice or admirable.

Report them if you feel like it, but don't expect the reporting function to do anything. Unless the players used openly racist or homophobic slurs, or regularly abuse their teammates, they won't see any punishment whatsoever.

IMO getting blasted by your teammates for bad games is just something you should learn to expect and put up with if you want to play off meta stuff.
