What are your reporting habits? (Poll inside)

Let's assume there is a guy in game, he wins lane but his other lanes are getting smashed and feeds.

He goes off blaming his team mates and goes telling the enemy team to report his team mates.

No one else says anything back to him. In fact everyone is quiet this game other than the guy.

He kills everyone and gets super fed and ends up carrying the game 1v5.

What would you do in post game?

Please votes based on your typical in game action. If you /mute from the start, please use that as a point of reference as well.

Is there an option to jokingly take the blame for everything he says in an attempt to dissolve the situation? For instance, the the person in question is playing top lane and his jungler makes a stupid gank giving the enemy a kill. The "guy" flames his jungler and I respond "sorry, I could have played that better" even though I'm playing support and had nothing to do with it. I keep doing this and eventually he gets annoyed and just stops typing all together.

I don't report anyone because what he says doesn't fucking matter and the report system encourages people to troll and tilt instead of mute people, which is way worse than being a dumbass in chat. Dumbasses can be muted in the first second of the game, trolls you have to wait 20 minutes because they most certainly vote no on early surrender after inting up mid 5 times in the first 15 minutes.

Honestly, my feelings on downvotes on this forum and other forums like reddit are the same: people who use them should be forced into emotion-focused therapy since they are terrified of having an honest conversation because someone might disagree with them. I can not imagine being so hindered by anxiety as to "vote" negatively on someone's opinion, though sometimes I do "upvote" if something makes me laugh or makes me think about something a different way. Reddit Syndrome is alive and well on here.

I totally agree. I've heard so many people say "nah I don't mute people. I just int and then report the flamer for toxicity knowing he will get a ban and not me." They should absolutely gut the report system and encourage muting people you don't like. The report system, as Dunkey argues, should only be there for cheating and inting

I don't mute everyone from the start, but when they show a negative attitude I do mute them. I would mute this guy after he started playing the blame game, and would report him for negative attitude after the game.

I very rarely report anyone. I wouldn't have any reason to report the guy in your hypothetical scenario.

Whether I would report him or not depends on how nasty he was. But he'd be the only one I'd report.

say this and then keep chatting on. win or lose you will receive the trophy for your efforts.

I dont think i phrased it right but this is an absurd way of putting it. The question should be if a player feeds and tells "x" that it's their fault (grieving) whereas a carrying player tells "x" that they need to not play "x" champ and that they dont know how to play. You are also not considering the fact that everyone on this forum cares about the game in some manner. I'm telling you I see it all the time. All the time.

hmmm ... wasn't your point toxic carry gets away with toxicity more often? If not, you were REALLLLLLYYY unclear in your other post.

But back to this specific instance, the boards community has shown that the toxic carry won't get away toxicity. More than 20% might not report the guy, but someone in the team would report him and that is enough to get him reviewed.

It was, and you proved it here. You think 20% is an accurate number? I dont but lets take it. How many people would report a feeding player who flames? Is it higher than that 80%? Well then use your brain a bit and imagine that the random solo queue might result in you getting that 20% of people whereas the number is a bit higher for a toxic feeder... thus point proven thank you. I hope riot looks at this. For me to be proven right I only need to see that people report toxic feeders at a higher rate than toxic carriers. And again, this community is the obviously the least likely to be toxic, they are on forums because they like the game and like talking about it in general. Whereas people who never go on the forums care less about the reporting system etc... It's not necessarily true but i think you'd at least agree to that.

Alrighty, as of the time of the post, the toxic carry has a report rate of (51+6)/73. Which is 78.08%.

You wanna make another post similar to this with a toxic feeder and see what the results be? Make sure you include all the report possibilities.

I think it will be around the same.

Then again, even if the total report rate might change, the chances of him NOT getting reported in a game is 0.15%. Which means that 99.85% of the time (or 1 in 1000 games), the system will review his behavior. Remember that 1 report is all it takes to start a review and multiple reports don't do anything to speed up his punishment progress.

So are you really willing to argue over that? Chances are he'll be permabanned already before the time he hits 1000 toxic games.

Sure these may be extreme numbers due to the fact that this is behavioral boards. But I don't think the general population would be that far off when it comes to behavior reporting habits.

Further, the fact that almost 20% wouldnt report means something, etc... How many would report a feeder who was toxic? I'm guessing it's more than 80% if you factor out bronze players (especially B5) who havent been playing the game as long (losing a game in even B1 means so much more to people than losing a game in B5, imagine how it jumps in plat or diamond, commonly known as the most toxic tier in league).

That pretty much explains it. Most people would report a guy for doing well at the game carrying them and their little feelings and little epeens getting hurt. This game is for children, by children.

In game performance and in game behavior are two separate things. Reporting is a tool against bad behavior. It has nothing to do with the game performance (intentional feeding tends to affect performance though). I report if someone behaves inappropriately, no matter what kind of results he gets during the game. The side he is on has nothing to do with that report either.

I'll report people for toxic chat or obvious griefing/inting. I will never report a player for playing poorly and making mistakes while trying to win.
