Which is the most likely reason you lost?

  1. That one player on your team that made a few mistakes.

  2. The Rito overlords are watching us all and they are a fickle god.

  3. The enemy team just simply played the matchup better and made less mistakes.

Just curious to see what the community's view is on this topic. I see a lot of blame laying on teammates, but I disagree and think that 99% of the time the reason you lost can be directly attributed to the enemy team just playing better than you.

My success and failure in League usually correlates to my personal performance. I lose lane, we lose game. I win lane, I can carry.

There are exceptions, of course. I popped off to the tune of something like 12/1/x and solo'd two inhibitors a few weeks ago as Yorick and still managed to lose the game due to my teammates getting utterly shredded. But hey, shit happens.

I find that 95% of the time I lose because I am bad. If I would step up and get gud I would likely clear a 95-97% Winrate on the way to challenger. The amount of times I get stupid red and my team feeds out the ass is extremely rare. And even so I am bad enough that I don't know how to properly abuse my lead. Hell even when I am doing decent and my team feeds is far more rare then me just getting beat and or not being able to properly navigate fights.

People just need to pull the sticks out of their butts and realize that they typically suck at the game as much as everyone else they play against. The biggest reason that I realize people are bad is because they seem to only believe that the landing phase has any use for the game. And so stomping your lane or getting stomped is the entire measure of skill. Taking no accounts into map awareness, warding, rotations, objective control, split pushing, team fighting, positioning, pressure, or the host of other things I can't think of right now.

nice strawman you've put up there. how about 5. got trolled by trolls on my own team - which is an occurrence every game or every other game

Actually losing a single game can happen due to pretty much everything. A better question would be "Which is the most frequent reason for losing?" or "Which is the most likely reason for losing a lot of games?" or, which I suppose is really what you are trying to ask "Given a completely random game that you lost, what is the most likely reason you lost it?"

I mean, I've played quite a lot of games, and you wouldn't believe some of the reasons why I lost or won some games... and I'd argue that those weird things happen more than just once every 100 games (=> 1%). Not much more, but still more.

Edit: That said, I do agree it makes little to no sense blaming one individual player for the outcome of a game with ten players. Ultimately it's a combination of everybody's skill that determines the outcome of the game.

In this current meta where botlane typically determines games the answer is easily option 1.

In most of my matches, there's one person on one of the teams that snowball the whole game.

If it's a very close 60 minute game then it's usually one person that makes a mistake that loses the game.

My only things that I lose is because player argue to another player.

Riot's MM sucks. Yesterday I had 2 diamonds on my team vs 5 golds, TWICE. Riot matchmaking just wants those guys to rank up faster, so they get better teammates. But it sucks to be on the other side.

In silver, the options should be 1)I picked a champ I don't know how to play or my teammates did (I just had 3 on my team, never played before) 2)My bot lane fed like 6 kills pre level 6 3)My jungler wants to counter jungle and feeds 4)My teammates don't play tanks or have CC 5)My Fault, I got raped in lane

My past few seasons have been a little bit of all 3...yes I made mistakes myself but come on

Metleon10/25/2017, 3:51:08 PM1 votes

Options should be:

  1. It's the jungler's fault.
  2. My lane opponent played an op, no skill champ.
  3. Bot lane fed like crazy.
