If we were talking about the game we wouldn't have these issues
If you're speaking within the context of the game then anything regarding race, sex or ability is completely irrelevant and possibly toxic. This is because those words have nothing to do with the game or have no place in the game to begin with. You can no longer make the excuse of "Talking about race sex or ability etc. shouldn't get me banned because i'm not being offensive" because that's not important. If you really want to talk about it then friend people and talk to them in the DM's or open a club or something. Call it "Trigger Warning" or something and just invite players and talk it up.
I would almost go so far as to call irrelevant small talk a very minor form of griefing because while you're not doing it completely on purpose, you're ignoring the fact that it puts your team at a disadvantage and that's a bad thing in my opinion. The time that you're typing out your mixtape (I'm definitely an offender of this one) to the enemy team you could be using to push a minion wave somewhere, ward and scout the map. I cannot count the amount of times I have myself and watched other players die because they were typing in chat. It's always funny (especially when they complain) because they're willingly putting themselves at a disadvantage and getting punished for it.
I'm not saying this should be officially enforced or moderated despite the fact that I classified it as griefing. What I am saying is that we should pay a lot more attention to the game. I'm also not saying you can't get away with it because I have, you have, we all have gotten away with it plenty of times. I also just implied plenty of times that I do it to, yes that is true but being a hypocrite doesn't dispel my argument and saying that it does a logical fallacy. That fallacy is called "Ad hominem tu quoque" which is basically translates to "to the man : you too."(I added punctuation to make it sound better.) I also know that I went off track plenty of times during this spiel which is implicitly hypocritical as well, but again tu quoque applies here to. A huge reason why it shouldn't be enforced is because some people actually pick smart times to type and those players should not be punished.
The last thing I want to say is DO NOT TAKE THIS ADVICE CONDESCENDINGLY AND USE IT FOR AN EXCUSE TO EXCESSIVELY POINT OUT PEOPLE'S MISTAKES that tilts your teammates. I'm just asking that we talk about the game in a productive manner. Is that really too much to ask?
TL;DR If we talk about the game and try to shut out irrelevant small talk and side convo's then you challenjour LP's. Oh and get your logic above if you don't believe me.
