I have close to 150 Honors
And am still stuck at Honor Level 0, Checkpoint one. I have self-recorded close to 150 total teammate honors since my restriction on my account was lifted. My question is this. Why is one team reported bad behavior enough to put your account into "bad standing" but 150 team reported good behavior not enough to bring in back into "good standing."
The larger issue for the community I have is the lack of justice within an automated reporting system. It works for the purpose of removing people who get emotionally frustrated enough to type some trigger words into the chat. Sometimes it works to get rid of some really toxic people who sometimes say some really nasty things, but sometimes it bans people for something as benign as calling a teammate "piece of shit" for running it down mid in their ranked promos. Defenders of the system will make the argument "well you have a history of toxicity that leads to an eventual suspension, its not just one time." Ok, by the rules this system is a 4 step punishment. In theory, someone could encounter someone who is intentionally ruining the game, or harassing 4 times in lets say a period of a month. And poof, that person's account is gone. Not from toxicity, but from reaction to someone making the game frustrating on purpose, which is the real toxicity.
The next argument to be made is well, just mute report, and move on. But that brings us back to the initial point. People can remain completely calm while intentionally throwing the game, or intentionally saying things to try and tilt/threaten those in the chat. The system will not pick up their chat as worthy of punishment, you're report will be invalidated every single time. I've had people tell me they want to violate my girlfriend, they want to find where I live and eat her baby alive. I've had people tell me that I'm worthless and that I need to start the car in my garage and keep the door closed. I've had people tell me to stop trolling/losing the game in a pseudo-polite way to try and tilt me. I've had a support tell me I no longer have the right to play ADC and all the farm is now his after dying first blood in lane. The system has said every time that player has done nothing dishonorable, yet if I call them a "piece of shit" for example, I am doing the dishonorable thing for showing my disgust for their obviously toxic behavior. By muting, reporting, and "moving on" you are just creating a culture of careless people. From a psychological perspective, you aren't teaching players to be friendly or calm, you're teaching them to be either psychopathic or perhaps to a lesser extent apathetic. Apathy just results in people not actually trying to win the game, which is by definition intentionally feeding/throwing. It won't get picked up by the system though, because the person isn't tower diving with stacked tears they're just afk farming in the jungle or lane as the other team takes your nexus. People who become psychotic will simply try to tilt others in some sort of twisted vindictive fashion for any reason they want. You're simply breeding toxicity with the system in place.
