Can we talk about Leaverbuster

I've scaled over the last 7 days from a 5 minute wait timer for 5 games due to unfortunate dc's up to 20 minute waits for 5 games. I understand the reason for Riot cracking down on leavers is to make the game a better experience but can it be toned down a little bit? I'm not leaving intentionally, and it's killing my desire to play the game. I just want to enjoy a game and nothing is more frustrating than having to deal with the computer freezing.

Can we all agree Leaverbuster is extremely abusive? I understand it's a tool to push people to reform, but when people don't see the results of their reform, it doesn't promote reform. It provokes more toxicity.

Riot could be way more upfront about how long it takes to reform or what specifically people are doing that gets them in trouble. The Reform Cards and Leaverbuster aren't promoting reform. They're only serving to tell people "You're Toxic" and in the case of Permanent Bans, "You're Toxic, Bye!"

That's not reform. That's not making the community better. Most of those people are just going to make new accounts (or buy new accounts) and repeat their behavior. Y'all have a chance to improve the community by crafting more descript reform cards and/or toning back Leaverbuster and making it clearer as to when Leaverbuster drops a level. (Like seriously I could play 300 games of no dc/leave, dc/leave one game and instant 20 minute wait timer.)

UPDATE: As no one has acknowledged this nor have I stated it, I've received Leaverbuster penalties after having my computer (> 2 months old) freeze on me in the loading screen. This has led to remakes in both normal games and ranked games. I'm not a frequent leaver, it's only happened a handful of times - more so in normal games than ranked. I feel that it's super punishing to have to lose X amount of LP (17 LP currently, I think) and have to wait for an excessive length of time. There's got to be a better way for Riot to handle this that actually produces reform rather than crapping on the community of us that don't have the money to spend on a perfect computer.

I’m not sure what you want. Riot does not have the resources to hire people to walk players through reform. Nor does the criminal justice system. Unfortunately in life there is simply not the resources to walk every person through being a better person.

Unfortunately, that’s part of being an adult, and that’s something I’ve learned as well. People need to take responsibility for themselves if they truly want to get better. And if they don’t want to get better, then they’re not the players Riot wants in their game.

On the subject of Leaverbuster, you have continued playing games even though you know your computer is freezing. You are being punished because you continue queueing while you know there’s a decent chance that you will not connect to the game. You are putting your own personal preference to play League over that of 9 other players who want an even game matchup. It’s selfish, and rude, of you to do that. As multiple songs sing, “you can’t always get what you want” - especially when what you want inconveniences 9 other players.

whether youre leaving intentionally or not youre leaving and thus ruining other peoples games. If you cant maintain a stable connection Riot doesnt want you playing. Thus if youre feeling like you dont want to keep playing, its doing its job.

Can we all agree that players who disconnect, whether intentionally or not, are abusive to the 9 other people in the games they ruin?

See, I can ask loaded questions too. Why are you mixing toxicity into a post about Leaverbuster? 2 separate things handles by 2 separate systems.

Fix your computer. The combined frustration of 9 other people adds up to more than yours.

Oh, boy. Which one is it?

If it was frequent enough to trigger a 20-minute LPQ, it was too frequent for the system. Fix your computer.

This isn't the same as reforming toxic players. The "reform" would be for you to get your technology in order and stop ruining games for others.

that don't have the money to spend on a perfect computer.

Then don't play.

9 players waiting for 3 minutes to remake (assuming all conditions are met) =27 minutes. 9 players waiting ~5 minutes for champion select and another queue = 45 minutes. 9 players waiting because of your disconnects/freezes per occurrence = 72 minutes 1 OP and the inability to play a different game or not be self-centered = Priceless.

If this has happened on 6 separate times, you are looking at 432 minutes wasted of other players time. 7 hours and 12 minutes total. This doesn't include times that they were unable to remake. This is also only the time cost. You talk about LeaverBuster making you want to quit the game? So does being forced to remake, playing a 4v5 if you can't remake, and the general annoyance that is caused because of you.
