I'm so confused as to why this got me banned. I feel like the system only looked for specific words and didn't grasp the full concept of what was going on... as is typical of machines. Here's the chat logs for your amusement.

This one we had a Zac who clearly did not know what he was doing. I was frustrated but overall my attitude became one of a livid individual who felt like he was being forcibly stripped of his LP by a teammate who either was ignorant of the role he played or was trolling the crap out of us. He was passive aggressive to us for most of the game, and none of us said anything that was reportable. We commented on him trolling us in all chat, but is that really griefing? I was merely informing the enemy team that the game was one sided due to a negative player. I feel like that's fair, they have a right to know. I wasn't even asking for reports. I never said "OMG Report this guy".

This game we had a Warwick who (after the unfortunate DC of Jhin) whined to the enemy team about how Jhin had DC'd and called for Jhin to be reported. After myself and another player defended Jhin, WW proceeded to flame the crap out of us.

Here's the thing...most things you're typing are antagonistic and detract from the game. You're spending time berating people, calling them stupid, and being generally negative. The context doesn't matter. Who started it didn't matter. Stop criticizing people constantly.

Since you're so concerned with winning or losing LP - I guarantee you'll win more games and gain more LP if you focus on yourself instead of others. Expect to lose some games. There's going to be a winning team and a losing team in every game. Nothing you're typing to your team is going to get you closer to a win, and in fact, it's going to get you farther. People don't like being badgered and insulted.

The system punishes you based on consistency x severity. It doesn't look for specific words (other than Zero Tolerance words), it looks for attitude and speech patterns and can identify whether you are using chat to propel your team forward (neutral / positivity) or used to drag your team down (negativity).

In your scenario, you probably don't understand what you did wrong and why you are getting punished, but ignorance is not an excuse for the negative behavior you displayed. Since you are ignorant to your toxicity, you probably would have kept doing it in your past games thinking it was fine. In truth, all those games with similar behavior accumulated over time and eventually got you punished.

Correct, IFS flags negative words and marks your account for each word (weighed differently for different words) it doesn't take context into account

Also correct, it's the way riot made IFS. No context, no exceptions. Doesn't matter if you called yourself an idiot or someone else it still goes towards a punishment.

and yes, it's a terrible system but it's what we have to deal with.

Tip of the day: if you think context will help reduce your punishment, you're better off deleting the chatbox from the game. having comms in leauge is not worth getting your account banned over. you can use pings to communicate just as well as you could have done in chat.
