Sub-15 minute team builder with 4 AFKs -> What can we do?

YES this is me venting, and YES you can downvote and leave and not pay attention to another "sob story." But I feel like this is relevant because this is literally each game I play on my own anymore; be it norms, ranked, or otherwise.

So I join a team builder queue, and we all ready up and get into game fast. From the beginning, our top laner was afk. Apparently his computer crashed but it is the internet and who knows what really happened. After a minute of this, and a first blood to the enemy bot lane, our support goes AFK as well. At this point it hasn't said "A summoner has disconnected" yet, but she (they) are in base and unmoving, nor showing signs of doing so in the future.

I didn't notice because I was trying to farm away under tower against another regular overzealous Viktor in the midlane. After a failed 2v3 between our jungler and our solo adc and the enemy bot lane + Viktor, they both decided they'd go afk too, told me so, and then said (and I quote): "have fun yas."

So here I am, 1v5, and the enemy starts up THEIR bm because everyone is afk but me. Low and behold, returns and tries to head top to stop the onslaught. He asks is our bot afk'd and I thought it was pretty obvious what had happened. I asked the enemy to send a report to each player for being afk, because honestly who wouldn't ask for such a thing. if it happened to you, wouldn't you? Exactly. No one wants an afk on their team, because of the disadvantage. Much less FOUR afk's. Sadbeans, man. Sadbeans.

Following my imploring for aid in reporting my non-playing team, the enemy asked if mid was open (I'm still there trying to play the game, mind you) and our top out of nowhere calls me a "cuunt." which I'm assuming is a misspelled form of the more vulgar term here. He tells me, in all-chat by the way, that I should "suck a fat dick" and how bad I am. Which I suppose I had coming to me since I WAS THE ONLY ONE LEFT PLAYING FOR RED SIDE.

Slowly but surely, the enemy pushes inward; they take bot inhib and start on the nexus turrets, and we just hit ~12 minutes now. Viktor dives fountain, top laner gets the kill, starts calling me trash because he got a kill and I haven't (i'm 0-3 at this point because let's face it I wasn't going out without trying A LITTLE.)

Everyone's yelling at me, I'm upset and pleading for justice to be served so that I and no one else has to go through this again (still will happen to you and to me, guarantee it), and the game ends at about 14:35.

>TL;DR four teammates go AFK, all blame me for "tryharding" (apparently trying to play LoL is tryharding no matter what now), everyone including enemy mad at me, I'm mad at me, I decide to inform LeagueBoards about my bad game.

Now that that's all off my chest, you know what the real sad part is? That I still adore this game. But is that really sad? No, I don't think it is, at the end of the day. I'll never stop loving this game. I'll never stop jumping in the air at each and every Esports match I watch in the LPL, LCK, NA/EU LCS', OPL, and the rest. This is at least the 210-th time a game like this has happened to me, but as a player, I'll continue to play this game. Maybe not today, that's for sure, but I will eventually. It's really making me lose hope for its momentum though. To be frank: the Tribunal just isn't enough. It doesn't help create better players and lessen the more and more common frustrating games like the case I just laid out. Being bm is one thing that might never change, to be clear. But being AFK is uncalled for in a game where the only reason you're online is TO play the game.

>We need more pause systems, with substitute players from stand-by queues, live Tribunal reporting, and FINES for players unwilling to play League of Legends matches. These are only some of the methods that we can use to improve player behavior.

On a sidenote, I'm working hard to try and intern at Riot, because I want to help strive to meet their goal of making it the best player-based game ever. If I can make one small suggestion and have it reach their ears, I'll have succeeded in doing my part as both a player and a hopeful rioter. Now, I know that it's a far cast to even be THINKING of reeling in as big a fish as a Riot Intership, I mean let's be real, only the cream of the soup get picked to help out THERE.

I just want to help.

If you stuck through and read it all, thank you so much for your valuable time, and I'm sorry. Most definitely feeling pretty biased, guilty, and at war with myself about this situation, and my--OUR, beloved game.

Have a great day on The Rift, everyone.

Cheers,

Hey skidmarkmania,

I'm sorry to hear that you had a negative experience in this game. I'd like to start by suggesting that you remove the summer names of the other individuals in that match as it pertains to the "name and shame" policy on the Boards. Regarding what you can do now if you encounter an afk player, you can report these individuals for leaving the game and/or being negative. It's not right that they created a negative atmosphere for you. When faced with toxic remarks like the ones that you mentioned in your post, I personally use the mute button, as I play the best when people aren't badgering me for playing the way I play. :x With regards to "live tribunal reporting", the reform systems that are in place can provide feedback to summoners within minutes of the game's end. For more information about the Player Reform system that was implemented a few months ago, check out this article that Riot Lyte posted. Lastly, good luck on preparing for the internship; it's competitive, so be sure to bring your "A" game!

Best, Wuks

Name-and-shame is not permitted. Please remove the player names from your post. You may include them in a support ticket.
