Is it right to get reported by the enemy team for opening mid, after your team suggested to surr?

So I just played a game that was already lost at 5 minutes in. I fed, my jungler, support, adc fed, everyone in my team fed, it happens sometimes.

At about 10 minutes my team agreed to surrender, thus I wrote in /all "Open Mid". Few minutes later, seeing the enemy team not pushing mid, I remembered them in all chat that the mid was opened, following by an answer of their ADC "You're reported", explaining later that it was because I was giving up. Did I deserved this report to you?

It really looks like you were too eager to surrender, instead of thinking of ways to come back a.k.a. actually playing the game.

When your enemies are not actually playing the game, that's really disappointing and a waste of time. It even looks like you NEVER even tried which resulted in you losing so fast and then you use that as excuse for giving up. You can't expect the enemy team to read your mind and know your intentions, they report based on what they witnessed and that's always the right thing.

Riot will look at the situation. Just because you got reported it doesn't mean you'll get a punishment. I only have one side of the story, but they will be able to see the full logs.

Just because you start off at a disadvantage, you by no means have lost by the 5 minute mark. I played a game where my top laner was 4/10, my mid laner was 0/12, my jungle was 0/10 and my support was 2/9/4, and their jungle ganked my lane 5 times. We ended up winning. My top laner was steady. My jungle started getting kills. My support helped me get fed. We won a team fight, and that was the end of it. My team called a surrender vote 4 times that game. I pressed no every time.

In case that the whole team stays in base and wants the game to end, i have never heard of any player getting banned, since nobobdy gets affected negatively.

Yes, you deserved to be reported.

Just like some people don't like the result of the US election, everyone has to abide by it. If a surrender vote falls, you keep playing your best until it passes or the nexus falls. If you can't vote yet, you don't give up.

You intentionally fed by afking, wasting the time of the enemy. They had every right to report you.

It's better not to use chat. That's how people get in trouble.

Generally, it helps if you've:

  1. Already discussed the matter with your team and everyone agreed with it.
  2. Assuming they have, outright state that everyone on your team agreed to open

Considering how often one player just states "Open Mid" and AFKs without the agreement of their team, I could see why someone would consider reporting you.

The only times I've opened were (1) when we were down a player (when remake didn't exist or didn't catch them) or (2) someone is outright trolling (i.e. intentionally feeding, constantly ping spamming, etc) and nobody wanted to deal with them.

Remember the enemy team only gets part of the conversation. They probably thought you were trolling. Just wait it out and surrender later.

I think that's one of those a rioter would have to manually edit had you actually gotten in trouble for it, cause although you did give up, it was a full team decision so i'm pretty sure you wouldn't get punish

I can sympathize with you, but I can also sympathize with the enemy.

The bottom line is that a premature surrender takes away the feeling of having legitimately earned a victory. If you combine that with forcing the enemy to endure the timewasting and boring task of finishing off an undefended base, I'd say they have a point to be somewhat pissed.

But like most stuff that is mostly just unsportsmanlike ("gg ez" and the likes) and not truly meant to harass or attack others, I think it should at most contribute to a punishment in combination with other offenses, and never constitute one on its own.
