Reporting Does Make a Difference
I hear it from all my friends. "Reporting doesn't do anything. Doesn't help the problem. Just ignore them."
Well, how can you ignore "them" when they are an entire sub culture in league?
The toxic players of the community always seem to suck the fun out of the game, by their rude words and unsportsmanlike behavior. You deal with them on regular basis, see them game to game, and if you are truly unlucky, have back to back games with toxic player after toxic player. Most people seem to think that the reporting feature doesn't help and will never do anything for all us people who are on the receiving end of the toxicity. I disagree. I know for a fact it makes a difference.
How do I know?
Those who don't report toxic players wouldn't know this. But when a player you reported gets punished by the tribunal, Riot gives you a little message whenever its convenient. I saw it when I just got out of game, and the game before that, everyone in the lobby reported this guy, for intentionally feeding and being verbally abusive. The message read:
"Thanks you to you and your peers, a toxic player has been punished by the tribunal."
That, at that point, proved to me, I was making a difference.
To all the players that think reporting does nothing and the issue will never get solved, you are wrong. Because the toxic players you failed to report, do get reported on eventually. If you had reported them, you'd see this message and you'd know the way I feel.
Your report could be the one that finally pushes riot to deal with the troublesome player.
And for those of you out there that are toxic, Shape up. Its a game. Its made to be fun and enjoyed, not a place to make yourself feel better by bashing your fellow players, teammates and opponents.
Lastly, I'd like to thank riot for making this game enjoyable, and giving us community members a chance to clean ourselves up and make the game fun for everyone. That message made all the difference. I used to think I could never play ranked because of its toxicity, but after receiving one of those messages on what my report did, I don't mind the words that get thrown my way, because they will get what they deserve. Thank you.
