When you play with friends do you call them by champion name, or name name?

So it sounds like everyone has their own system for this, but i'm a little curious. If you play with friends do you call them by their names, or do you say their champ name? My friends and Myself just do by champion name since it cuts confusion down for people who may not know everyone's name in the skype call. Same with gender, if a person plays Fiora is it a she by default or do you assume it's a guy at all times or what is your way of doing it? (Came form another post and thought it may be interesting to hear about)
