Started a new account, the toxcicity of these low level games has increased...

So like the title says Iv got me a new account, and I just wanted to share some of the UNREAL levels of toxicity Im encountering.

First, I was hoping with this account to get eligible for ranked, and then make a video journey of placements to Gold 5. One of my main goals.

To become eligible for ranked, I have to level the account, and that means playing games. Those games have been so disgustingly toxic I need to talk about it here... now... to unload what Iv been putting up with. I main support, and this has always been a point of friction because they ADC tends to think they are "in charge" of everything. If I dont want to do the stupid thing they want to do, and they die, they tilt out of their mind and start making accusations of trolling.

This kind of attitude decreases as you go up in rank, mostly cause they have a lower desire to do stupid stuff, but in normals in the low level games Im in on a new account its more common.

So far in my time leveling up between level 11 through level 15 when I left bot matches to go to blind pick, then to draft when I had enough champs Iv been called... I know these words are ugly, but Im going to share them, bear with me:

STUFF IV BEEN CALLED:

"ugly fkn nay" "gar" "%%%ot" (read: homosexual; about 4 different games so far, popular insult) "noob wipe" "dogshit" (chat does not filter that btw) "autistic"

THINGS IV SEEN SAID TO OTHERS:

"ill r. ap [u" (read: ill sexually accost you without consent) "ill kill your family" (the player typing this had to know this would result in an action of some kind against the account) "asian lil dk by..ch" "i came inside you" "time to track down your ip address and teach you a lesson"

Iv got some notes over here, it goes on, theres more, you get the idea... This stuff is just the standout beyond the "report x for trolling" I see EVERY game.

Now I get that Riot is trying to "mitigate" toxicity, but they arent. Theyre banning the accounts, but the players are still here... on new accounts... ACCOUNTS I am now encountering along with several new players they manage to recruit through word of mouth, advertisements, or people discovering MOBAs.

New players get the most of this crap. They dont perform up to the expectations of these toxic players, so they accuse them of intentionally feeding, or trolling, or just plain insult them cause theyre bullies at heart.

So I have some suggestions.

FIRST: We need a bit more education for the players for them to stop saying "report x please." One report will get the automated system to review the chat for problem statements. Repeated games with repeated reports kind of fills in the rest. What some people seem to think is that if 9 other people report a player they will instantly be banned from the game. So players either beg for reports to get someone punished, or they do it to tilt someone. Either way if a player knows how the report system works they wont beg for reports, and wont be bothered by others begging for them to be reported.

I know this next part will invite a flood of downvotes, but clearly the community has not eliminated toxicity.

SECOND: Stop banning accounts permanently. Do like Overwatch does and ban them for the season. Since they arent losing accounts forever, feel free to increase the punishments a bit. Id recommend a 5 game chat restriction, a 25 game chat restriction, then 2 week ban (along with a season long chat restriction), then if they still cant behave with a 2 week ban and season long chat restriction ban them till preseason for next season starts.

Sure, seasonal bans would still let people start up new accounts, and be jerks, but it would give people a chance to return to their accounts (probably having grown up over a few months), and they could set personal behavioral goals. As it is now we have a system that takes players with anger issues, and destroy their time and money investment, and turn them lose to play with fresh faced new players on accounts they have less attachment to.

I know many people think "to hell with toxic people, make them suffer!" What is it accomplishing though? If you think that, and I told you we had to as a community choose between NOT perma banning accounts, and letting new players get the opportunity to play with fewer toxic people what would you say then? Perma banning accounts doesnt remove the player, it just makes them play with new players...

I know this will be a bit of a debate, but thats fine. All Im saying is toxic players dont get deleted, they just get dumped in with new players and thats not good for the game, and certainly not good for the new players.

uh as long as you get xp for the game you shouldnt care since your goal is to level up to 30

They cycle through accounts so they don't care. they'll get banned and get a new account.

Thank You!!! I almost cried reading this. I've only been playing for maybe 5 or 6 months and am a support main myself. I've gotten a lot better since I started, so I don't get flamed as often. I won't play support unless I'm duo queue'd though because I know I'm not the best, but when I do get flamed by the adc, it's usually because they did something stupid and won't admit that they made a mistake so they blame me since I don't back up their mistake. It was terrible when I was new though. I had gotten to the point where bot games were to easy because bots are very predictable, so I started playing normals. I was playing Janna and still learning when the appropriate times to ult were. My adc kept flaming me for not ulting and I explained I was new and still learning and they just kept flaming me and said how hard is it to press R. Pressing R is easy, knowing the appropriate time to press R is a little bit more challenging. I cried and had to stop playing for the night after that game. I almost wanted to quit, but worked up the courage to come back and keep learning. I think your idea is wonderful. I hope riot sees and considers this, but I won't hold my breath though. However, I appreciate you pointing out this problem. <3
