Should there be bans from ranked queues specifically?
So I recently got back into the ranked grind and its reminding me why I stopped 2 years ago. It's so frustrating when you try to play a team oriented game and you get someone who doesn't value teamwork whatsoever and makes it near impossible to win.
Recently I had a jung afk farming because something trivial was said in chat (I think our mid said that they were afk farming the first 20 min, which was technically true.) Despite a huge gold lead and map pressure with solid vision he refused to group. There were two occasions this game where he based in front of baron with full hp where the rest of us wanted to take it but couldn't because the enemy Jung might run up and steal it which would likely result in a loss. One time we killed 2 and he goes to farm his wolves on the other side of the map. We eventually lose this game because one person refused to do anything, yet he wont be getting punished because he didnt actually int in game. 5k dmg as yi on a team that held the advantage most of the game because you're playing farmville not league of legends should be punishable.
Though that was just a recent example I've had many games recently that a player (typically jung) will refuse to group or doesn't create any pressure costing us objective after objective until we lose or play out of our minds and win a fight somehow to carry the person to victory. And if you try to say something hoping to coordinate the teamwork they get spiteful and do the opposite. They also do this if you ask them not to take farm because they have most and get reduced gold, or if you ping like 150 from an item they will turn around and take the entire wave from you if they can.
This is the good one though, 1-1 in promos in champ select and top laner says "can't top mid." Mid says I cant top sry but the top laner has already made up his mind. I try to give up marksman in Hope's of making it work out that everyone's comfortable in their role but neither of them can play it unfortunately. The mid laner of course Hope's that they will actually go top and picks a mid laner also and ends up top anyway in a poor matchup without tp (though to isn't 100% necessary anymore it would've been helpful for him.) Game goes on the Jung helps out top and they make it go semi decently but not well enough in the end. Remarkably the top laner now mid does very well this game but also gets a big head about it and plays over aggressively getting caught late game costing us the game. But even at this point hes not done. Now he's gotta get in chat and blame the rest of the team and just be negative for no reason, the audacity of this guy was astounding. Yet what happens when you give him 4 reports? Nothing.
These aren't the only scenarios of in game toxicity not through chat that happen just the recent ones that come to mind. And it's not like these things dont happen to the other team and I get lp back that way, but does that mean people should just be able to do such things? LOL is a team game that rewards solid teamwork in objectives to help win. With a variety of play styles based on team composition how a team works together can determine it all. I dont expect that there could ever be perfect or even close to perfect team play across all levels of ranked, but it would be nice if people that refuse teamwork in certain ways were punished. Playing ranked means you're trying to be at least a little competitive and look for rewards, so maybe the idea of banning people more easily in ranked but only specifically from ranked queues would help make people take it more seriously or not play it. These aren't necesarilly rare occurrences and can be the most frustrating thing about the game in my opinion.
