Kalista rend working on one target but not another

I'm not really sure what made it happen, but the w from leona hits darius as i rend so i'm thinking maybe that. there was no dmg dealt to him from rend and the stacks remained, despite killing the ahri on the other side of darius with rend. i have a clip of it saved on league but am unable to attach it atm.
