PSA: Saying "GG EZ" or phrases alike is a reportable offence, no matter how you sugercoat it

I do not understand why some people think that saying "GG EZ" is "just a tease" and "does not do anything". It's not just a tease. It's adding insults to the injury after the losing team is defeated. It's just toxic. I don't care how "minuscule" the amount of toxicity "GG EZ" contains. It's unsportsmanlike and passive-aggressive, period.

We do not need to get told how horrible we were in a match. We get it. You won the match. You defeated us. Saying "GG EZ" achieves nothing but stroking your sadistic ego. If you say so you are either an immature prick or you suffer low self-esteem. Either way it's not okay. It serves nothing but ruining sportsmanship and letting everyone on your team and the enemy team know you are despicable and asinine.

[{quoted}](name=Riot Lyte,,realm=NA) In saying this, looking at the data, "GGEZ" is considered a negative term, and is reportable. Players generally agree that the phrase is rarely used in a positive context, and is a pretty sour way to end a match.

The only acceptable circumstances of saying "GG EZ" are, for example, when you are losing. It's nothing short of comedic when you are saying so as a member of the losing team. Always use "GG WP" to show that you have common courtesy, when you absolutely have to communicate with the enemy team.

Edit: The point of this post is to tell people it's not okay to say "GG EZ" unless you are doing so for comedic purposes like I mentioned in the post. I just think it's condescending and unsporting, and to top it off, childish. My patience or tolerance for people saying so has nothing to do with the point of this post, so if you are looking for a fight on this, I suggest you walk away because "whoosh, that's the sound of the point flying over your head".

Edit2: Some of the comments here are pretty on point. While people can argue how we should grow a thicker skin and be tolerant about it (In my opinion, not retaliating and reporting them after the game is already being tolerant about it), in saying "GG EZ", gloating and humiliating your opponents, you are telling people that your maturity is of a juvenile. Childish and pointless gloats like these only further prove that you are too immature to properly and courteously socializing with other human beings, let alone acquainting them. Before you say "I only do so when I hide behind the screen as an anonymous person", let me tell you that it doesn't justify this at all. I don't know why simple courtesy has to be taught in League of Legends Boards and why some grown adults here still do not understand the importance of sportsmanship in any (e)sports games. More importantly, news flash: professional athletes in various sports can be punished for committing unsportsmanlike offences. It's not something out of the blue.

Eh. GG EZ is just douchy. It isn't even smack talk, it's the equivalent of an elementary school playground where the winner sticks his tongue out, "Neener neener neener, I won and you're a peener".

It's childish and does nothing but enable gloating. Bantery smack talk is one thing, but GG EZ is just the pointless taunt of a child who is too immature to handle adult conversation and emotionally healthy competitiveness.

When i was little we called it being a "bad winner". Gloating and going out of your way to humiliate the opponent, refusing to be gracious about the victory. That's really the gist of it. GG EZ is just being a bad winner.

{quoted}

Smack talk happens during and maybe before a match. Not after. After the game you shake hands and typically compliment the enemy team for their efforts; regardless of how their performance was.

You say that people shouldn't be insulted by something as simple as that, when literally the only purpose that phrase even has is being disrespectful to the other team. You might as well say it's stupid to be insulted by insults.

Edit: Apart from that, it's not like LoL is the only sport where unsportsmanlike behaviour is punishable.

I think if people are going to massively freak out over people saying something like "GG EZ" they really should not be playing online games.

Looooololololol

Dang you have some thin skin bro xD

I would hate to see you on a sports team hahahah

I've had people say this after 4v5s, which is pretty stupid, like of coarse it's going to be an easy game most of the time when the enemy team has less people than you. I had someone on my friends list type it after a game where I carried them and I deleted them because of that.

If I want to congratulate an Ezreal for doing well, despite playing Ezreal, I should be able to say "GG 2 Ez".

Zyvux12/14/2015, 10:28:37 AM4 votes

Only 3 times is it appropriate to type GG EZ

  1. You fed very hard/your team got rekt
  2. The enemy team had a completely lopsided game e.g. 2 afks, everyone dancing and spamming wards, etc. (And only if the enemy will find it funny. Like they know they aren't gonna win and are goofing around and seem nice enough to get the joke.)
  3. If they have an Ezreal on their team who was talkative.

I guess this has to be posted daily or what? We get it, stop farming cheap upvotes.

The worst part is I usually see this whenever we have an AFK and it turns into a 4v5. It's rude and annoying. Blood's already running hot because of the loss that could not be avoided, now the enemy team is rubbing it in our faces. Nobody wants to see that shit.

Only time I've ever used GG EZ was beginner bot games. Those guys fucking suck though they deserve it.

Nice Fellow12/14/2015, 2:37:53 PM2 votes

i feel like if you get offended by "gg ez" you shouldnt play league, or any multiplayer game.

Knoyle12/13/2015, 6:49:21 PM2 votes

When Stomping: "GJ guys, gg" leave

When Stomped: "gg ...that sucked" leave

When actually having a close match that could have ended in Victory or Defeat because the teams were on such even terms I can't help but congratulate everyone on a good experience. Games have gotten so snowbally having a long enjoyable match is rare and deserves notice and reward in my opinion.

What if I say "gg Ezreal" ?

Ruin Lance12/15/2015, 12:48:56 AM1 votes

I completely agree. the type of person that generally says this is the person who goes mid lane, plays leblanc and proceeds to be a douchebag and bm all game, or the person who got carried super hard. it's also super frustrating to have people who just barely win a 4v5 say this. the only reason i could think of that people say this is because they have low self-esteem and/or are on tilt.

Although its annoying to see this, it shouldn't be a reportable offense. There is a difference between trash talking and harassment. This is trash talking, which I don't understand whats wrong with it. League is the only game I know where trash talking can get you banned, which is very stupid. Trash talking is apart of gaming/sports. Now please don't get this confused with Harrassment

Trash Talking: GGEZ, You are bronze bro. Harrassment: You are retarded, You are a moron, STFU etc... Above are examples of the 2 different terms. Please don't make something as stupid as GGEZ a reportable offense

stop fishing for likes. I see the "gg ez is reportable" thread once a week.

mute all chat, problem solved. GGEZ

Seriously? I have never said GG EZ in my whole gaming league year but are you really going to cry and report someone over GG ez? Players says that to me but I barely care, some times I get mad but to report them for that is just being a cry baby over 4 letters. How lyte think this is a reportable offence is funny as hell. Well we are talking about the guy who who promise us a fix to the afk rank problem or people who don't connect. Still waiting and it's almost a year since he said that, He might say "IT'S COMING SOON" like always. No seriously how people care about GG EZ just amaze me and even reporting him for that is amazing.

You see Riot trying to say ESPORT IS A SPORT well guess what riot people always trash talk in sport WAY WORST then "GG EZZZZZ". If you (Lyte) is saying this is a summoner code offence then don't call this a sport.
