The end of an era

So it would seem that an average, everyday player takes about 7 seasons to get permabanned in LoL from their broken-ass report bots that just assume the flex queued trios of people that didn't like being muted for spamming and raging might know jack shit about what cyberbullying is.

It was fun, riot. I know I'm no perfect saint of a player, but for all the time I spent wasting my life away for all your stuff, you'd think I at least deserve a thorough review of things by an actual fucking person instead of some number crunching robot that only benefits premade trolls. You'd also think that over 7 seasons, some of those bans and penalties could drop off for all the HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of games in which there was no problem. And you'd most certainly think that a permaban should be saved specifically for people who obviously and intentionally ruin everything, and be a little more lenient on the people who get a little heated from the pressure, particularly the pressure generated from their own team's relentless badgering and spam pings after you mute them, given how competitive the game and community are. Better permaban the people who try to mute the premades and end the arguments rather than the premades feeling in complete control of your solo player's fucking account status, amirite?

If you want to make your game better, remember we're not fucking robots, please. I'm no pro, and noone worthy of a spotlight, so my time with your game ends here, with my account's totally-not-bullshit permaban, but if you want to make your game better for my fellow gamers that keep your game running, take a solid look at how much your system is actually EMPOWERING premade trolls instead of DIMINISHING them. You've got a good game, but your system for dealing with toxic people is almost more toxic than the people it's actually meant for, and hits all the wrong people just to make sure the right people have to make another meme account and start over a 7th time. I'm no Tyler1, I actually tried to enjoy your GAME, not the misery of my peers. Until you fix your system, you're going to lose more and more of your veteran players to your robotic, yet barbaric report system.

That's all.

"but officer! i've driven this car for seven years and have never had so much as a speeding ticket and now you're arresting me for running over that one guy? this is so unfair!"

If this were true, the majority of players from Season 1 would be banned. They're not. Multiple reports also don't have any more value than 1 report -- all that matters is the content of your log.

You'd also think that over 7 seasons, some of those bans and penalties could drop off for all the HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of games in which there was no problem.

Bans DO drop off if behavior shows consistent improvement.

Do you have your chat logs and the date of your last 14-day ban? That can help us identify whether this may have been a false escalation or a legitimate punishment.

I'm one of the few people on the boards who completely agrees that riot constantly throwing out perma bans for something said in chat is absolutely ridiculous and shows how little they actually care about their loyal players.

There's this thing called a CHAT restriction that would be a much more sensible punishment for CHAAAAAATTTTTT related offenses. Sorry but all my emphasis is going on the word "chat" because it seems like other people don't realize how idiotic and insane it is to be permanently banning people simply over words, instead of just more heavily chat restricting them. Truly boggles my mind, and then the fact that so many people think it's perfectly ok makes me so sad.

I haven't received any punishments of any sort on my 2 or 3 year old account (except for some 5 minute queue times in the past from my old laptop disconnecting me from games, so, leaverbuster), but I can't really put into words how much this problem upsets me. And like I said, what makes it a thousand times worse is the countless number of people I see supporting and even defending how Riot operates its banning system. I'm sure some of them will be on this thread soon enough, but I just wanted to voice my support for you, and us as the players in general, and say I'm sorry that this happened to yet another very loyal player.

Final note, you can try to open a support ticket and appeal the ban, but don't have too much hope.

EDIT: In the time that it took me to write my comment one of Riot's white knights did in fact already appear. Comparing a video game to actual law, lmfao... Yea like I said, sorry dude.

ive been going strong for 8 seasons with only a simple popup warning about my chat getting a little toxic back in season 2.

Been playing since 2010, never had a single warning.

It's just you bud. Farewell to toxic people.

A majority of players have not received a single punishment, myself included and I've been around since season 1 (started right around when Xin was released). Only an extremely small amount of players have received permanent suspensions.

Getting punished is not inevitable for the normal player, it's only inevitable if you say or perform actions with the intent of pissing off other players.

With your continued toxicity, looks like the system has deemed you to hurt the community more and making a decision that you are no longer welcome in the game. So looks like the system is working as intended.

Btw, premade within the same game reports don't do anything more than 1 report. Its purposely programmed that way to prevent premade teams from abusing that poor solo dude.

To us older players the reports were pretty much just a meme. You'd report the guy that beat you in lane and emote spammed, report your friend that took a kill you blew summs for etc. I wasn't taking their reporting system seriously and my main account from season 1 just got banned permanently as well. I said a lot of things I shouldn't have said, mostly just for lulz. Really got into the trolling in all chat with another guy who was flaming me lol :p I didn't report him because I thought we were just having a wild, vulgar conversation in all chat, as is LoL tradition. Kinda build up to see who can say the more rude thing, but when the guy gets mad for losing lane.. they report you and of course the logs look like wow this guy is Tyler1, when the reality is far from it. Then you get some guy who's like yeah lets improve the LoL community by banning this guy! He's obviously super toxic! I think most of LoL players would lose their accounts if Riot actually enforced their ToS to the T. I don't see why chat related offenses are so serious when there's a mute button, and we even have the ability to turn off language filters so we can use and read vulgarity. Honestly what's the point?
