Which Type of Ranked Teammate Would you Prefer?

Florpy Dix·9/7/2018, 6:19:30 PM·3 votes·2,218 views

I have an assumption that the players would answer one way, but posters on the heavily-moderated and censored forums will answer another way.

This is for science, FYI. Thanks

Hypothesis: The League message boards are an isolated bubble of snowflakes that would rather lose a competitive game than have their feelings hurt by a cyber bully. Methodology: Binary Polling. Downvotes of the thread are considered votes in category two "Not Toxic, but very bad". As downvotes indicate an adverse emotional reaction to a simple choice, likely caused by the realization that the poster prioritizes 1 factor over the other, whereas they do not want to acknowledge it.

AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW, my thread gets locked. I said this board was overly-censored, and you prove my point. .[zombie-brand-facepalm]

Be honest. it's not for science, it's for confirmation bias. You already announced your assumption that people are biased.

"Everyone who agrees with me is enlightened, everyone who disagrees is a biased idiot."

Say it louder for the people in the back!

Edit: For those worried that I falsely accused the OP, I didn't. See here:

Me: "You're not proving anything by trying to make people choose between two extremes."

Yes I am. I'm showing that the boards subgroup of players would rather be polite and lose than be mean and win. In a ranked game. Which says a lot.

fun thing is most of the toxic players aren't very good, they just think they are. I'd choose a non toxic player any day, if he's in my elo we can't have a very high skill difference anyway

This isn't the only two options though.

Being toxic doesn't make you a better player. It actually makes you about 20% more likely to lose games.

Where's the poll option for "Not toxic, and very good"?

There's more than two kinds of people, y'know.

Also...

...but posters on the heavily-moderated and censored forums will answer another way.

The boards are far from heavily-moderated and censored. Unless you're deliberately going out of your way to attack and harass people or spamming the boards with useless/irrelevant posts, it'd take quite an opinionated statement to get Moderator action.

You're also ignoring something else;

We play the game too, y'know.

Categorizing it as "people who play the games" and "people who post on the boards" as if those two groups are the only ones that exist, who do not intermix, like someone can only play League of Legends and never go on the boards, or that someone who uses the Boards doesn't even know there's a game (that's hyperbole, by the by, not a strawman) makes it pretty clear that you're doing some one-sided science.

So, I vote on Option 3 - "not toxic, and very good" - from Group C - someone who both plays the game and uses the forums.

neither

How is this for science? You have no baseline, you're swaying your results, limiting options, not managing outliers, and your sample size is bad.

People who have a banned account often ask this exact question. Toxic and good, or friendly and bad. Then they make it seem as if you must take one of either.

This is **not **the case.

You get matched with players from your own rank- silver with silver, gold with gold etc. For a silver player, the question is this: Should there be toxic players in the player pool with silver players - or shouldn't there be toxic players?

The problem your poll presents does not occur for anyone.

I would much rather have a good player that doesn’t flame at all and instead gives tips, coordinates the team and tries as hard as he/she can to win without flaming. But honestly I would have somebody who is funny, nice, and is a helpful person. those people I am perfectly fine with winning or losing with, because they will understand their faults and help their teammates realize their mistakes in a non aggressive and helpful manner (in other words not flaming).

The premise of the poll itself is off. Every player you play with is statistically about as good as you are at winning when playing with and against the same set of players that you play with and against. Therefore, there is no much thing as a player in your game that is "toxic, but very good" or "not toxic, but very bad." There is only "toxic" or "not toxic." And I think we would get a pretty one-sided vote if that's what was up there.

Edit: I posted this before voting, and it looks like the vote is pretty one sided anyway.

I would rather have a toxic teammate 100% of the time. I think anyone who takes Ranked seriously would. "Toxicity" can be muted whereas nothing can be done about a teammate feeding.
