I want to know why. Whoever I have trolled, it was 5 people I'm friends with and we told the enemy team we were joking around. I have never done this in a norm game / ranked where people do not know me and probably want to win.
Why would you do that to someone else? Don't tell me its because you'll get away with it, there is a different reason. No one is paying you to troll so I am asking.
Because in their eyes having fun is merely ruining someone else game. I mean there is no other way to prove it. Especially since their main goal is to get a reaction out of you, what better else to do it than messing up their game?
A lot of them are home grown terrorists, I think...
ie, people who were permabanned by Riot for something as stupid as saying 'mean' things to trolls
With nothing else to lose, and their anger still festering inside them, they decide to make it their mission to ruin this game for everyone else, ideally getting some poor saps permabanned along the way.
Basically, Riot did this to themselves.

There's a fine line between trolling and harassment. Either of the two is punishable offenses in league.
Why troll? Well, there's been studies since the 90's asking the exact same question. Along with the birth of the internet came the birth of all the same plagues we know today. I would say, as my personal opinion, people believe that online traffic is anonymous. The truth is that it's not. Even tor isn't anonymous, since it really relies on a giant web of users.
Trolls are people who will do things because they feel like they can get away with it. There's several case studies about similar subjects. I can't get too far into it with you since I don't actually major in psychology, but I do have an extensive book knowledge of it.
it is because of the matchmaking system.
in riot's matchmaking when you win you get harder games and when you lose you get easier. some people decide they want to have easier more fun games so they want to lose. so then they troll for an entertaining loss.
every game that has matchmaking has people wanting to lose. you see the same thing in overwatch and I see it all the time in chess. people make 1 move and then they resign. they do it because they want easier games.
