Permabans = genius business model?!

first of all i wanted to post it on Gameplay. but rito forced me to post it here anyway.. do people even realize that this whole bansystem is a huge joke? back in the really old times of league of legends, permabans were something that only the really toxic people got and permabans were really rare and the most important thing, permabans were checked by some riot employee first before they got handed out. i dont remember exactly when but in season 4 (?) the punishment system was pretty fair imo. flaming people got a chat restriction or a ranked ban and it was done. Permabans were still a really rare thing that only the worst people got with writing racist slurs, homophobia (f g t doesnt count as homophobia imo) and death threats. the ranked ban was a really good thing in my opinion, it felt like being banished from playing ranked and you get matched with people who behaved like you. it was a fair punishment, i've been there and i never got there again.

and now we have 2017, the whole internet is hypersensitive, and so the people in league of legends, you have to be CAREFUL what you write, even some sarcasm could cause you getting chat restricted and butthurt teammates who will intfeed because you said that his plan is idiotic and it wont work out (baron at min 20 while being really behind because he has seen it in lcs before LUL). you can get banned for cursing, why? people always loved to shit-talk on video games, i mean stuff like "fucking nunu, i will destroy your ass for stealing my buff" no racist or other discrimination slurs. if people doesnt like it they took it like a man and hit that mute button and gg. most of the permabans arent justified, most of the people who claim that are not the censored before you will write, yes there are deserved permabans but not all, maybe the minority of the permabans are justified in MY EYES.

riot is hypocrite, they've once said that permabans will never be handed out automaticly and now they are. we have 2017 and Rune prices, page prices, champion prices (only a few get reduced every 4 months that doesnt count) and ip gains are still the same. most of the permabanned people i know doesnt quit, because riot banned their account it doesnt mean that the banned player doesnt want to play anymore, they will make a new account or borrow one from a friend or buy a trashy level 30 unranked account. i dont know if i should write this but i know people who sell and buy stolen unranked level 30€ accounts with ~16 champs for like 5-15€, so riot created a black market, do they even notice that? i doubt.

anyway, permabanned people wont stop playing and will buy stuff that they usually wouldn't because they already had it on their main account, they are basically new customers who buy runepages and champs with RP again. the only thing that will people quit is the lack of balanced gameplay which season 7 is already doing a great job with, kappa

fix your game instead of making new customers with permabans. my english skills arent good enough to go more in depth with that topic, im sorry for that.

scources: mates, friends, facebook groups/communites.

permabans were something that only the really toxic people got

They changed their punishment model because simply continuing to give someone chat restrictions didn't fix the problem. Those players would continue to use their limited chat to be abusive and often escalate their behavior. Increasing the punishments to bans is something that toxic players either A) care enough about that they improve their behavior is conducive to Riot's policy of reform, or B) are eventually removed from the community.

However, with the Instant Feedback System handling cases within 15 minutes of the triggering report, players are aware of the consequences of their actions much faster which results in them reforming sooner to ruin fewer games. The Tribunal was notoriously slow, and due to players voting for kicks or for the bonuses the results were often inconsistent between cases.

The IFS is actually very good at weeding out false reports. If you believe a punishment was in error you can request a manual review.

you have to be CAREFUL what you write, even some sarcasm could cause you getting chat restricted

It actually takes quite a lot to get punished. If being "sarcastic" got you punished, it's because you are doing it very frequently in a negative way and it's been a significant distraction to many many players. If you just play League instead the blame game you'll typically be fine.

fucking nunu, i will destroy your ass for stealing my buff

Cursing is not a problem, it's being abusive to the other players that is. I have never seen a punishment just for behavior like that, and I've seen a significant number of chat logs from reform cards posted here.

Can you quote your source for that? Keep in mind that Lyte was not working for many months prior to him leaving.

i dont know if i should write this but i know people who sell and buy stolen unranked level 30€ accounts

I recommend you report any violations like that. They do not want this, but due to the free nature of creating new accounts it's impossible for Riot to stop people from making new accounts, and they can't go too heavy on banning suspected sold accounts so they don't ban innocent players. When they permaban a player they don't want their business, but the effort to ensure that is too great.

Do you think you have a method Riot could use to ban players and effectively prevent them from buying or creating accounts to come back, without harming innocent players or causing too many restrictions on account creation?

"riot is hypocrite, they've once said that permabans will never be handed out automaticly and now they are."

This isn't true. Automated bans have been around for longer than most people realize. Riot also never promised that every case would be manually reviewed forever.

SEASON 1 was auto banning people with basic bot People just think its because tribunal PUNISHMENT had to pick up since season 1 as people were still being "toxic" in the community. The game is far cleaner than it was in season 1 Also go board mods and Deep Terror Nami(ex board mod)

You are right about trash talking in games. That is a fun part of video games that riot's little social justice crap is ruining. They have made the game an oversensitive cry fest for all the babies of the gaming world. This game is a joke because of it. Fuck riot and fuck the developers for making themselves the judge over us.

They'd rather you make a new account and toxify the new player experience, driving people away from the game. :D
