Played 3 games and afks on either team in those, I'm not mad but what is happening? Seems like players are just giving up

Let's go over many scenarios as to why this might happen!
1. Someone may legitimately have to leave the game, family issues, personal issues, breakfast/lunch/dinner outside with the family, etc A1. People have lives, you ultimately can't control them and they don't know when this would happen when queueing up for a game. It's just unlucky on both sides.
2. Ping issues A2. People rather just AFK and make the game more winnable that way (as they won't give free kills since their ping wouldn't allow them to react/control) OR they rather not play the unplayable game for them because of the ping. Either way it's a loss, unlucky again..
3. Issues from Riot's side, where there was the time people were fine in Champ Select, but couldn't connect (unless they restarted their computer) A3. Blame Riot, not the players
4. Assume that the game is unwinnable so they move on and do something else "better" (in their eyes) A4. Any game you go into is winnable, just keep the mentality for yourself like that. Others, what can you do about it? If you type to them, they are going to consider that as flame and once it gets more heated, you might get reported and might lose your honor.
5. Or they might just INT you (INT as in, in high elo, they just AFK your games because of some grudge they are holding from previous games) A5. L for me, LLLLLLL. But I don't think you're high elo just from how this post was posted.
Pro's Quit Streamers emulate Pros Player base emulate both Players seeing more players doing it so they do it too. They end up being the gate keepers to higher elos but its your fault that you cant win games where your team is afking / surrendering.
It's unfortunate, Myself and my son have been getting more and more AFKs lately, I had 3 in one game last night and my son had 3 games in a row. Ranks don't seem to matter either, his account is in Plat 1 and my new one was S2. I think the worst is people that don't afk but run down to the tower, port back, run down and back over and over or whenever a fight starts up they run up act like they are going to help and then run away. They sit and kill minions in the base so it looks like they are not afk and I'm assuming this does not trigger the Blitz bot or something as I never received any messages after these people are reported by multiple people on both teams as afk.
I hate reporting people but these people are worse than someone calling me every name in the book and saying I suck etc... These are the people that cause players to become toxic and it's a huge waste of time because they will not surrender.
I also think if players are banned or proven afk then the LP should be returned to the players that had to deal with it and mmr considered.
Played 6 games yesterday. Won 6, lost 3.
Of the 3 lost games:

Our 1-7 level 7 Ezreal rage quit around 15 minutes despite the fact that we were otherwise dominating and on our way to a win. We almost pulled off a win, but finally lost 39-35 at 43 minutes, 20+ minutes of which were 4v5). Viewing his profile via my Match history, I see that the Ezreal played 12 more games today, so obviously our reports meant nothing.

Our 0-4 level 9 Yi rage quit around 20 minutes. We finally lost 28-33 at 33 minutes, and I lost my promotionals. Again, viewing his profile via my Match history, I see that the Yi played 11 more games today, so obviously our reports meant nothing that time either.
In both cases, the rest of the team kept trying. I wish I could've honored my entire team both times, which sadly Riot no longer allows.
But - Riot does need to fix this problem. Rage quit - Immediate ban, NO EXCEPTIONS.
- btw - the 3rd loss? Well, we lost 52-45, no one fed, they just capitalized on a couple of team errors and grabbed the win!
Also wish I could've honored the enemy team. They deserved it. But, again, Riot no longer allows that either.
Why? It was a way to encourage opponents to keep playing honorably.
