Blind Pick Issues - 'first come first serve' concept not really working

This has happened to me multiple times in the past few days, and I've just about had enough. I play blind pick norms to play champs I want and just have fun without needing to wait through draft etc. Calling roles in blind pick is an issue that has been around for a long time.

This causes a whole lot of toxicity and negativity - I ended up reporting 3 people at the end of that game due to champ select as well as what followed in game - inting, constant swearing, toxicity, and negative attitudes.

How can we resolve this?? Suggestions?

You can definitely report him for the salty language, but the calling roles concept is merely a courtesy. It's not a rule. You can pick whatever you want if you really want to. Mind you, this could result in a clusterfuck of a team, which is why most people abide by the call. But if you don't want to, you really don't have to. Just instalock and if you feel like it, tell them what role you plan on filling during the game. My friend plays river shen, wtf is that? He literally calls river, and goes Shen and roams the whole game. It's not particularly good, but he doesn't get punished for it.

While I understand you want to report a player, these community boards is not the proper venue to do it.

It is also against the board's "naming and shaming" rule, so please remove the names from your thread.

If you wish to report someone, the best option is to use the post-game lobby and leave a note saying the toxicity happened in pre-game chat. If the game never happened, then you can take a screen shot / copy and paste the chat and send it to https://support.riotgames.com

And therein lies the entire problem. Most people have that idea in mind, and without a natural(!) prioritization of the players' wishes this leads to everybody having the same sense of entitlement. I don't really see a way to fix that without also removing the main incentive people have to play blind pick in the first place. In other words: the only real solution is, as others already pointed out, to play a different game mode.

Edit: To be clear, when I say "natural prioritization", I mean a prioritization that exists without arbitrarily defined rules. Pick order is a perfect example of such a natural priority. The person that gets to pick first, in the absence of other rules, will be the first to get their wish, simply because they are the first to finalize their decision. This is painfully obvious when people who pick before you refuse to take the role they were given in draft (which is ultimately an arbitrary rule).

In my experience, if you want to play blind pick, you should be ready to give up your favorite role if you want things to go smoothly. Yeah, it sucks, but it's the price you pay for getting into games faster.
