Concern over teammates banning champions you intend to play

Hello so was curious about something the game does not seem to consider occurring. Ever since the new champion select system came out we are capable of showing our teammates what we intend to play so as to better coordinate things such as banning or team composition which is fantastic. However I recently have been griefed by members of my team banning a champion that I have highlighted as my intention to pick. I knew this was possible when the system came out and the effect in and of itself didn't concern me at first since I can just leave the game and find another one (which I especially want to if my teammates reveal it wasn't a simple accident and that they are intentionally being jerks). However trying to find another game I was reminded of the system that causes me to have to wait up to 15 minutes (despite not leaving ques or being afk before) to find another game simply because I had my champion banned from me by a disrespectful teammate.

Is there a way to at least reduce the penalty of finding another game for leaving a lobby since a teammate bans the champion you intended? For those with limited time to play and want to get a game and for those who have been trying to get a game in with the champion but they keep being banned by enemies this is very punishing and frustrating.

If there is nothing that can be done currently I would suggest at least making a change for the new client coming out.

Curious on Riot's thoughts and at a minimum wanted to bring this up in case others haven't.

Have a great day!

The whole point is that it's punishing. When you bail out at champion select, it destroys the game.

Stop doing it.

I don't bother showing my preferred champion until after the banning phase ends just to avoid it.

I have enough champions in my pool that I don't have to worry about accidental bans.

only noobs show what champion they intend to play. they wont be able to ban your pick if they dont know what it is.

Not worth punishing someone. Half the time I accidently ban someone on my teams champion cause I'm not paying attention and get flamed for 30 minutes.
