Who is this trying to protect? Kids? That's their parents job--they have access to the entire internet too. Riot isn't protecting them from bad or abusive language--no one twisted their arm into playing, and they can mute any player. No one puts a gun to their head and forces them to stay in the chat lobby after a match.

Reports should be for obvious feeding, trolling or bad attitude in the game, such as giving up easily. What people say...who cares. Deal with with or mute it. Does Riot think they are going to fix a person's behavoir? How arrogant of them. Anyone who gets very upset over this game probably has multiple accounts. You aren't going to make them less toxic--something born of their personality and years of life experiences...but RIOT is going to correct them?

It's not trying to protect anyone -- it's trying to create a respectful, fun, sportsmanlike environment. Much like your local coffee shop doesn't want its customers abusing each other, Riot has realized that the bulk of players don't want to be harassed and abused when playing League.

Frankly, I don't give two shits what you decide to call me. It doesn't bother me, nor does it offend me. What I don't want, however, is to spend my relaxation time and my gaming time in a game with people who find it necessary to insult me. Not because I need "protection," but just because I'd rather play with friendly people than with jerks.

Riot isn't trying to fix your behavior -- they're offering you a warning that you need to fix it yourself and, if you can't (or don't want to bother) then you're not welcome in the community and will end up banned.

I never said it was acceptable. I am saying punishing it doesn't change anything, therefore, there is no point in having it, and it distracts from the actual things that ruin matches--feeding, trolling etc. And you don't even understand why the community is toxic--its toxic because players are put in a situation where their individual rank depends on too many things not in their control.

I know its not a simple thing. Hence Riots punishments don't change anything. This is the most toxic community and has been for years. How are those punishments working out? Punishing people for the words they use or how they communicate is punishing people reacting to an issue that is really Riots fault--the game inherently brings out the worst in people because a person's efforts often have no effect on their ability to win a match just because you have a 0/5 adc on your team. When people feel powerless, they get angry or sad. That is basic human nature. This game perfectly stimulates those reactions...and punishing players for being floored at how unbalanced, and frustrating the game is, and taking it out on their teammates doesn't the problem. I could be pissed and call my teammates all sorts of names, and still play great, still trying to win, still giving it my all. What ruins matches is those who give up too fast, feed on purpose, or troll a lane or some such because they think its funny or they don't care. And often times when people get chat restricted its in reaction to bullshit like that that should be called out. You get assigned to 5 man team at work, randomly ,and you all get fired because 1 person sabotage the project due to not caring or thinking is funny....he absolutely should be called out using any language you feel appropriate to express your disgust at him and his actions.

But I will, because I honestly feel like I'm doing stupid people a favor by pointing how how and why they are terrible at the game, and reminding them that waltzing into ranked just to be a moron wastes 4 other people's time which is insanely inconsiderate of them.

If I walk up to you on the street and start telling you what a piece of shit you, I do have that right. In of itself it snot a crime. You have the right to walk away. If you are getting angry at the status or outcome of a video game that is a personal issue dealing with emotional stability / anger management. It has nothing to do with Riot , the game , Competitive, legitimate rule breakers or anything else you can come up with.

you deserve to be punishing just as much as they do.

If someone calls you every name in the book and makes up some new ones -- and you respond

you deserve to be punished just as much as they do.

It does not matter "why" you did it ...the fact is you did . That's the only think that matters in the above cases.

No matter what game mode your in certain things just are not allowed reacting to anything you dont like in game is one of the things not allowed,

In other words you ( according to Riots behavioral policy) have no right to

Be verbally abusive/ verbally offensive
React or "defend yourself" against others being verbally abusive
Chastise those legitimately breaking the rules
Chastise those who you don't agree with (play style,champ choices etc..)
Try to correct something you think someone is doing wrong ( without their permission)
Complain about anything happening in game
Rant about any personal grievance in the game
Give any type of negative "commentary" regarding whats happening in the game

Doing any of the above can lead to various punishments including permaban's

So here is the lessons you should take from this on the mature and civilized way to handle things which will also ensure you are following Riots behavioral guidelines

So yes if someone is saying the most vile insults to you ever spoken,

the proper action according to Riot is mute and report without any response including " report x or i'm muting you"

If any amount of people are breaking every game play rule in the book

The proper action according to Riot is ignore them don't respond with anything -- even "report x"

yes you might lose a match and some lP if in ranked its still **Just A Video Game ** and not a serious life or death situation if you do.

so if you go into a rage or become verbally abusive to it ... even if the loss was because of a legitimate rule breaking player ...

That is not a problem with the other player riot or the game .... but the player who is raging.

Every player is responsible for their own actions and no player can blame any behavior that contravenes Riots behavioral policy on anything but themselves

The company has the right to set whatever policy they want. But a job is something where a person voluntarily chooses to engage in a transaction with a company--he doesn't have to be there, and he probably had a fairly good idea of the company culture. Now imagine that you are assigned to work with 4 others on a project at work, and one person does't pull his weight because he thinks its funny or doesn't care...and all of you lose your job. How would you react to that? Would you be polite and civilized? Beyond that, to my earlier point, in LOL you are forced to work with random people that effect your individual rank, in a way that is rarely duplicated in real life.

We already had a situation like that. We weren't fired but had to stay late because of one lazy person. It's just become this mess of someone leaving, someone thinking of leaving, and all of slacking off because "We're leaving late anyway, no point in working fast." while we record the lazy guy playing on his phone while the manager just yelled at him to get off of it.

In LoL I can mute them. Doesn't justify them. And guess what, now that you forced me to mute you, I won't be able to hear you say "Top lane GP has no ult" so I'll lose a tactical advantage.

Because the punishment A) has no effect on a person's character traits or flaws that make them prone to being rude or disrespectful and B) it distracts from the real things that ruin ranked--feeding, trolling etc, or having a ADC meta where no matter what you do, if your ADC has 0 kills by 10 minutes, the game is basically over.

But I think the vast majority of players get punished and then don't get punished again. I also think that chat and gameplay negativity are pretty closely intertwined. So curbing one likely decreases the other.

No matter what the other player did and no matter how frustrated you are there is still no justification to becoming verbally abusive or criticizing you or your opposing team mates

that includes a 0/4/2 ACD at the end of the match ( in both cases where it was not intentional and because of some form of afk

0/30/0 feeding troll

0/0/0 afker that just flamed the whole game

or someone who makes a personal negative comment to wards you.

** All LEGITIMATE infractions of the rules and TOS are for RIOT to deal with excursively through the report system**

NOT YOU TO REACT TO!

If have such little control over your emotional control and "losing" a video game or a "rank point" with or with out international toxic players aggravated you to the point where you become verbally abusive .

Then YOU should stay away form playing with random people in any mode including ranked and just play with peole you trust to play in a mindset and way you deem acceptable.

TLDR If you cant handle playing with random people MUTE everyone at start and stop worrying about the outcome of a game or what other players are doing / not doing and just focus on your action and play when playing with random people

Don't React to anything this includes yelling "re[port x"

Quietly and private use the report tool at the end of the match for LEGITIMATE reports only.

No one needs "protection" and there are not as many "snowflakes" as you people seem to think.

We simply do not want to play with assholes who don't have the decency to not flame or troll other people. I do not get offended by flame or troll (that's why I don't see the need to flame back), but I don't want to play with flaming or trolling asses so I report you and Rito get rid of you. Plain and simple.

If someone is afk intentionally ally feeding verbally abusive they all deserve to be perma banned,

NO ONE has the right to react to anything they see in game if they do they are just as bad and should be banned along with the the people they were ranting about.
