Venting My Spleen (re: downvoting)

I very rarely complain aloud but I have a complaint tonight. If somebody has made a statement that is factually incorrect, mean-spirited, or in some way against the forum rules, by all means downvote that post. Please, can we pretend that we enjoy civil discourse, however, and not downvote posts just because we disagree with somebody's opinion.
