I don't get peoples obsession with a Taric Rework...

He's a solid champ. His kit is super balanced. And if you play him right, you can carry the shit out of your teams. Passive: A natural Cooldown reduction while fighting. Set yourself right and you will spam your abilities for the benefit of the many. Q: Up to 2 people heal. (Ally + You) Make sure your iniciators stay in the fray more time than they thought. Mega heal for yourself if you are front line/initiator. making it harder to reach your team cause your presence is still there. W: (This has other stuff im gonna talk about, but later) Natural armor boost for yourself and ALL your allies who are close to you. Basically making you and your team ADC resistant just by being there. with tha added bonus that Tanks and squichies go down faster after you go on the offensive with it. E: Most annoying stun in the game. A glitering ball of fuck you that stops all but an ulted olaf in their tracks. And for a bonus, a bigger fuck you if they are closer to you, making sure that you light up their asses in a truly outrageous way. R: Mini Nuke turned Radioactive: Get in the middle of the enemy, Blast their asses to oblivion, and now your team gets a radioactive boost to their Offensive capability to hit hard and go home.

Pros: Hes versatile in your build, he has a natural defence that balances his build for ANY need. Tank/AP Carry/ AD Carry (i have seen it, but never done it). AD based champs hate Teamfights that involve taric, because no only do they naturally do less damage, most of the time they HAVE to get close to him, on the chance he makes them useless. His solo laning is ridiculous (even if people wont admit it) and he has an advantage over some of the more damage oriented top laners (Especially if they are AD) After 6 he has a sweet farming boost

Cons: VERY high mana burn early game, play smart or die. Slow farming until lvl 6 , only aoe damage is his W, leaving him weakened early game. With no natural resistances agains AP, his early laning against ap based champs is horrible (Extreme caution necessary)

The best combination i have seen, was when an enemy went full AD and our teamwork made them cry. Our team consisted of Malphite Rammus Yasuo Taric Kalista VS Aatrox Irelia Talon Jinx Braum They wouldnt dare teamfight us after the first 3 times, so we picked them off when they split, forcing them to surrender.

As for builds. These are really situational but youl get the point: Anti AD Tank: item 3110 item 3047 item 3143 item 3075 item 3025item 3050 Anti AP Tank: item 3105 item 3174 item 3102 item 3001 item 3065 item 3111
Hybrid Tank : This one is based on the enemy comp, im just gonna put what i usually use. item 3025 item 3065 item 3143 item 3001 item 3105 item 1001 (your choice of boots here)

P.S. I usually dont build support because of trust issues, but when i do: item 3069 item 2045 item 3025 item 3190 item 3065 item 3111

And this is why i dont understand why people want to change him so much.

Champ Comparison: VS Thresh Lower Cooldown than thresh with a garanteed catch on target enemy. With built in armour he can take more hits than thresh, making him tankier. His built in Heal lets him keep tha ADC in the lane longer. VS Blitzcrank Getting pulled by blitz gives him the advantage of getting closer to enemy ADC for a stun. His heal outsustains Blitz passive. Also Same point as before, ADC in lane longer VS Soraka Cannot outheal her heal ADC based. Can stun soraka to keep her from helping adc Can outheal her solo based (if she cant land her Q, she cant heal) So he forces her to B more often, making her waste XP and Gold. Vs Sona (They are even in my opinion, althought she has the poke/range advantage) VS Braum Braum cannot protect against the stun with shield ( Targeted shot not skillshot) Braum cannot outsustain him. They are even in the defencive aspect tho, and their utility is even as well. VS Bard I Admit, Bard has the Advantage over Taric Less heals than Bard, although Tarics are stronger Less mobility than bard Bard outpokes Taric VS Karma Karma flat out beats taric, as she does against most other supports. VS Lux Sustain over shield(Health is better, because it doesnt go away over time ) Loses in poke. VS Tahm Kench (never fought Tahm with taric, so im gonna base this on playstyle. But i own both, and i believe that tahm is better) VS Nautilus Naut has more CC than Taric. but its useless if he never gets to combo it. Taric neutralizes Naut with his stun, just enought that the adc can get away even. if naut initiates with Hook he wastes the chance to catch again. Naut is tankier.

... you just described a champs abilities and call them "balanced" without taking his viability over other champs into consideration.

Let's take this from the top.

His kit is super balanced.

It is indeed, for three years ago. Before champs starting having three passives, mobility every auto attack, tons of true damage, and ability descriptions that are a paragraph long or more. Taric's simple abilities can't stand up to that anymore. A similar example is Garen, who has simple abilities just like Taric, and was given a literal assload of %HP true damage to try and keep him relevant in today's League.

Hes versatile in your build, he has a natural defence that balances his build for ANY need.

No, you build armor and HP the vast majority of the time. Maybe dip two items into MR if you're against a team loaded with magic damage, but if that's the case you probably shouldn't have picked Taric in the first place. His thing is armor stacking; it gives him damage and keeps him tanky at the same time. The only MR items you should ever typically be building are item 3111 item 3065.

AP Carry

AP Taric stopped being a thing with his mini rework a year ago. Taric has three AP ratios in his kit, and only two of them do damage. His heal scales off AP, but it's a measly .3 ratio on a large CD for a huge amount of mana. It's better to stack HP and empower your heal that way, since a lot of items give both armor and HP. His other AP ratios are on his E (.2) and his ult (.5) and they are absolutely pathetic. Just for reference, Mordekaiser E (both old and new) has an AP ratio of .6, and that's his "do a little damage and regen my shield" button. Morgana has almost the same AP scaling on her Q as Taric's entire kit (including his heal).

His solo laning is ridiculous (even if people wont admit it) and he has an advantage over some of the more damage oriented top laners (Especially if they are AD)

His solo laning is pretty bad against any champion that's either ranged or does magic damage. While Taric does dominate a lot of AD opponents in lane, if he doesn't get an AD opponent his laning phase is only slightly better than Poppy, and she has a horrible laning phase on purpose. Large mana costs, huge CDs, and short range makes Taric very vulnerable to poke, and his heal will only sustain him as long as his mana holds out (which won't be very long, considering his mana pool).

The best combination i have seen, was when an enemy went full AD and our teamwork made them cry.

So you dominated a game against an all AD team with three champs that have armor scaling ratios? This is weak evidence at best and irrelevant at worst. If you pick the absolute best circumstances for a champion, of course they're going to look powerful.

And this is why i dont understand why people want to change him so much.

We don't want him to change completely, we want him to be updated so he can compete with modern champions. Right now, everything about his kit is archaic. Only older, outdated champions have those kinds of mana problems, his auras are not interactive and are extremely boring to use as well as difficult to balance for Riot (the same reason Sona was a priority for a rework, which Riot then promptly screwed up), and his animations and model look like something from a completely different game. A much older, less polished game. Tarics got problems that a simple number shift can't solve. He needs a lot of help to be relevant and viable.

That being said, I still have reservations. Riot doesn't have the best track record with reworks lately, and I'm worried they'll do to Taric what they did with Sion Gangplank Mordekaiser and remove the goofiness that made them charming to a lot of players. A grim, serious Taric just wouldn't be the Taric I love. But I understand why this rework has to happen, for better or worse.
